Back off it’s Ginger Beard, he’s a fiery character and his beer is no different. This amber ale is infused with fiery root ginger to deliver a spicy finish with a bit of bite. Try it if you dare!

Bottled 50cl. Fiery alcoholic ginger beer- poor description. Reminds me more of a bland low alcohol drink.

Visual: Pours clear beer bottle brown with minimal head, a thin layer of ringed retention, micro bubbles, lots of fast clustered streams. Nose: bursting bright sweetened ginger beer soda, malts mixed in. (lvl-8)-pungency Attack: ginger syrup, immediate (9/10)-lvl sweetness Mid-palate: (MAIN) candied ginger Finish: veggie mold exhale, light ginger throat warmth Summary: This is like drinking ginger syrup with alcohol, not good at all. It hardly resembles a beer nor a ginger beer soda. The only redeeming feature is the authentic ginger burn at the finish.

Bottle: Poured a clear light amber color ale with a medium size off-white foamy head with medium retention and light lacing notes. Aroma of spicy ginger notes with light dry cereal notes is OK. Taste is actually quite interesting with nice ginger roots notes with light spicy finish. Body is light with good carbonation. I understand this is not a great beer but I find it quite enjoyable when you are in the mood for a highly drinkable spicy drink.

Bottle sample. Clear golden with small beige head. Strong aroma of ginger, soapy and spicy with notes of lemon. Strong and sweet ginger flavor, artificial and spicy. Medium-bodied. Too much ginger, a few sips are enough.

spicier than expected in the back of the mouth/throat. not a ton of complexity as there is really not much going on besides the ginger, but I do like the lite burn, so it was not a complete waste.

Bottle from the LCBO. Clear orange-amber with a decent sized white head. Aroma has a lot of ginger - both fresh and candied - with some backing sweetness, reminding me a lot of Seaman’s Ginger Ale soda I used to drink in PEI as a kid. Flavour is also very gingery, with sweet candied notes up front, and a nice burn building in the middle and into the finish. The base beer seems to be a pretty standard and inoffensive ale, which does a decent enough job carrying the ginger, which is the undisputed star of the show. I’m generally not a big fan of Wychwood beers, but this one must’ve caught me in the right mood for it, as I quite enjoyed it.

Pours a clear medium amber with a slight ruby cast. Normal head volume and retention. Lacing is outstanding. World class nose of ginger, with a nice spicy twang like ginger ale, over a subtle caramel. Heavy light bodied with a good bit of smooth texture. Normal carbonation with a touch of effervescence in the middle and a nice burst in the finish. The flavor profile is World Class. This is the best ginger beer I’ve ever had. The ginger is intense (complete with heat) and is balanced by an equally intense sweetness. As a result, it is not very complex. It begins with an intense burst of ginger flavor that flows over a rich caramel sweetness that is somewhat candy like. In the middle, the sweetness fades, ginger regains dominance and a spicy ginger heat takes the forefront. The finish is fiery ginger flavor over a subtle residual caramel and mineral note.

This doesn’t deserve the ratings it’s received. But I will say this. Way too sweet.

Bottle from Capone’s. Copper pour with minimal head. Nose and flavor was predominantly ginger, some spicy peppery notes at the finish, caramel malt.
