Back off it’s Ginger Beard, he’s a fiery character and his beer is no different. This amber ale is infused with fiery root ginger to deliver a spicy finish with a bit of bite. Try it if you dare!

Bottled 50cl. Fiery alcoholic ginger beer- poor description. Reminds me more of a bland low alcohol drink.

spicier than expected in the back of the mouth/throat. not a ton of complexity as there is really not much going on besides the ginger, but I do like the lite burn, so it was not a complete waste.

Bottle from the LCBO. Clear orange-amber with a decent sized white head. Aroma has a lot of ginger - both fresh and candied - with some backing sweetness, reminding me a lot of Seaman’s Ginger Ale soda I used to drink in PEI as a kid. Flavour is also very gingery, with sweet candied notes up front, and a nice burn building in the middle and into the finish. The base beer seems to be a pretty standard and inoffensive ale, which does a decent enough job carrying the ginger, which is the undisputed star of the show. I’m generally not a big fan of Wychwood beers, but this one must’ve caught me in the right mood for it, as I quite enjoyed it.

Pours a clear medium amber with a slight ruby cast. Normal head volume and retention. Lacing is outstanding. World class nose of ginger, with a nice spicy twang like ginger ale, over a subtle caramel. Heavy light bodied with a good bit of smooth texture. Normal carbonation with a touch of effervescence in the middle and a nice burst in the finish. The flavor profile is World Class. This is the best ginger beer I’ve ever had. The ginger is intense (complete with heat) and is balanced by an equally intense sweetness. As a result, it is not very complex. It begins with an intense burst of ginger flavor that flows over a rich caramel sweetness that is somewhat candy like. In the middle, the sweetness fades, ginger regains dominance and a spicy ginger heat takes the forefront. The finish is fiery ginger flavor over a subtle residual caramel and mineral note.

This doesn’t deserve the ratings it’s received. But I will say this. Way too sweet.

Bottle from Capone’s. Copper pour with minimal head. Nose and flavor was predominantly ginger, some spicy peppery notes at the finish, caramel malt.

Given to me by fellow Ratebeerian Hidden Pooch, I was warned that this one wasn’t a top dog. But, I do enjoy ginger flavoured things, beer and sitting so I decided "what the hey" and hupped to ’er. This ol’ dwarf ale actually looks pretty neat, like liquid ginger candies with a frothy white head. One strong nostril inspection proffers up a randy dose of the namesake ginger, overpowering everything in its’ path. I want to pretend that I can smell and taste something other than cloying, feisty ginger but I shan’t and can’t. Slightly syrupy, mildly carbonated, gigantic ginger wrath will flow into your from the first glug. If you love ginger soda and want to get buzzed then this is for you. I finished it anyhow and have had worse!

Poured into a teku glass showing dark translucent brown, well filtered and practically transparent. The nose is practically the same as ginger ale. The palate is cloying - if not for it being chilled so much that it numbs my tongue a bit.

Pours clear bronze with white frothy head; strong aromas of ginger root; strong ginger palate with crisp finish. In spite of the abysmal rating of this beer, I enjoyed it!
