Traditionally Crafted Legendary Ruby Beer.
Hobgoblin is strong in roasted malt with a moderate hoppy bitterness and slight fruity character that lasts through to the end.
The ruby red coloured Hobgoblin is full-bodied and has a delicious chocolate toffee malt flavour balanced with a rounded moderate bitterness and an overall fruity character.

Cask @ Pitcher & Piano. Pours dark amber brown with a nice creamy tanned head leaving some lacing. Aorma is toasted, malty, caramel and fruity. Flavor is very similar, not too heavily bittered, smooth and drinkable. Finishes sweet and bitter.

[Cask at the Hobgoblin, High Wycombe] Iíve always liked this beer, and Iím quite surprised that I havenít actually rated the cask version before. Nowadays it seems to be delivered through a huge, lager-style tap that somewhat surprisingly is still actually a cask handpump. Think this might be a marketing faux pas - it may alienate their traditional market, whilst the mass market theyíre clearly targetting will stick to their known big brands. However, nice to see one of the big regional brewers doing something to try to keep up with the times. Now, to the beer itself - it pours a chestnut colour with a moderate creamy head. Fruit and toffee great you initially, before an oaky flavour develops at the back of your mouth with odd hints of sawdust. Rich, smooth and comforting, this beer is still a fine one despite the strength reductions. c7

Pint, one little finger head. Mahogany colour. Strong smell of roasted coffee and malts. Tasted woody with some coffee. Smooth enough. Decent pint but not one to seek out again.

Bottle. Pours dark amber full tan head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruits. Flavor is medium sweet. Full body, soft carbonation, light bitter in the finish. Nice balance of sweet and bitter. Overall quite enjoyable.

On cask at Bennets. Pours a dark ruby colour with a thick beige head. Aroma of caramel, toffee and yeast. Similar flavours with a mildly oily mouth-feel. Moderate carbonation and light CO2 prickle. OK but a bit boring.

At Red Lion. Very smooth beer much like the bottle version but a little disappointing on cask. Some what watery. Serving: Cask

Tap in London. A nice hobby beer, with a good colour, and good head. Nice rounded beer.

Deep ruby red ale with a creamy off-white lasting head. Looks pretty good in a glass. Malt dominated nose, with little in the way of hop character. Nice enough, but not enough interest.
