Traditionally Crafted Legendary Ruby Beer.
Hobgoblin is strong in roasted malt with a moderate hoppy bitterness and slight fruity character that lasts through to the end.
The ruby red coloured Hobgoblin is full-bodied and has a delicious chocolate toffee malt flavour balanced with a rounded moderate bitterness and an overall fruity character.

On tap @ Ryries. Amber in colour with a decent head. Biscuits and dried fruit on the nose. More biscuits plus some toffee and more dried fruit on the taste - a little bit of astringent maltiness on the finish, which spoils the end result. The palate as already mentioned is quite astringent on the finish but there is a decent structure and texture to this beer. Overall, solid but didnít have another - preferred the bottled version in fact.

A dark ruddy ale, slight head which dissipated; aroma of burnt toffee; taste of a nice caramel note and a mild bitter finish.

Cask at The Old Hand & Diamond, Coedway on the England/Wales border. Ok, bit more taste than the pint before this but on the whole, medium malts, medium roast, medium fruits, medium taste, generally a mediocre beer.

Draught at Kittys Helsinki. Pours amber red. Notes OF roasted, caramel, toffee. Pretty simple beer with too watery body. Not that enjoyable, needs more taste.

Had this at Cotswold hotel in Lower Slaughter, but it had gone over and soured.

This used to be a good beer but as usual with a big brewery takeover, itís lost itís big flavours. A mild roasted malt flavour with slight fruit tones remain but I was left wanting more from a beer which should be better.

Dark ruby red. Creamy head which stays. Not much aroma - bread, hint of spice, nuts. Malts initially, medium sweetness. Low body which ends in a taut dry bitter aftertaste. A little watery on the finish. Flat. Itís okay.

(Cask): Dark ruby brown colour with a creamy tan head. Aroma of malt, dark fruit, nuts, toffee. Same notes in the taste but with a slightly over-sweet after taste. Slightly flat too. A personal favourite in the bottle but the cask hasnít done it justice.

BierbŲrse Karlsruhe 2013 (Germany). Pours nice and dark reddish. Pleasant clean taste with a slight bitter twang and a nice kind of sherbert finish.

Hand-pulled pint in The Boat, Jackfield on 24 Aug 2013. Another one of those beers youíre sure youíve rated, but it was bottled. Anyway Iíve set the records right by having this once again in cask form. Looks moody, dark amber, ruby brown in colour, with an inch high off-white, cream coloured head, which stayed throughout the pint, although it was a lot thinner by the end. Sweet and malty, with a hint of dark berries. A little sweet, but to my taste buds, about right. Malty aftertaste which stays until the next mouthful. Fairly thick, it hangs around for a time.
