Traditionally Crafted Legendary Ruby Beer.
Hobgoblin is strong in roasted malt with a moderate hoppy bitterness and slight fruity character that lasts through to the end.
The ruby red coloured Hobgoblin is full-bodied and has a delicious chocolate toffee malt flavour balanced with a rounded moderate bitterness and an overall fruity character.

Smells of chocolate and fruity vanilla. Almost see through but very dark brown in colour. Clean and flat on the tongue. Really pleasant tasting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tasted from the tap on the 24/10/2015. Nothing special, malt and caramels predominates in this beer. Next one please!

After the beer was served in the glass there was found a lasting quantity wall adhesive light brown foam collar which was fine and even of structure. The beer also contained much carbonic acid in the glass. The beer has a clear brown color and a sweet taste. The after tast of the beer is hoppy bitter with a roasted malty touch . This beer smells malty.

At 5%. Decent but not more. A bit harsh. Tried it many times through the years, but its not my cup of...pint.

This beer has a really interesting aroma. It smells much like an ale but there is something different which I canít out my finger on. It had a malty flavor and finishes clean.

Ruby red with a thin off white head. Good retention and good lacing. Aroma is caramel, sweet malts, chocolate and hops and floral notes. Taste is slightly fruity, with caramel and chocolate. Medium bitterness at the end with some toastiness and grassy hops. Slightly sweet. No carb, medium body. I found the bottled somewhat watery but probably nicer.

Draught pint, served from a cask at The Sir Christopher Hatton, Chancery Lane on 26/02/15. Ruby reddish brown colour with a small off-white head which quickly disappears. Medium bodied with very little to no carbonation. Aroma of caramel, malt and fruit. Light bitter taste, but heavy in sweet fruit. Wouldn?t want to drink more t hand one.

Appearance - very dark, ruby, beige head leaving plenty of lacing. Aroma- malty, a bit of fruit. Taste- smooth, medium bodied, malts, slight roast, dark fruit hints. Not as complex as the bottled version.

Wow, Iím so amazed and happy that I get to rate this as a cask brew as well as a bottle... because the beer was overpoweringly better when fresh and from a tap, rather than shook up and imported and aged in clear glass bottles. Delicious, licorice notes? Herbs work well, whatever they are. Deep ruby-black color. Very impressive pint. Had this at the Hobgoblin in Canterbury, England. Apparently almost all the High St. pubs there serve patron beers from the pubís patron brewer. A bit strange. This pub was old style, rustic shoddy tables, etc., but with a bit of a hipster leather-jacket crowd. Nice as well.
