Traditionally Crafted Legendary Ruby Beer.
Hobgoblin is strong in roasted malt with a moderate hoppy bitterness and slight fruity character that lasts through to the end.
The ruby red coloured Hobgoblin is full-bodied and has a delicious chocolate toffee malt flavour balanced with a rounded moderate bitterness and an overall fruity character.

Whole in the Wall, York: very dark copper with a small white cask head. roasted malt aroma with hops that smell a bit off. As I tasted it I couldn’t help but think there was something wrong with the beer. It just had an off taste to it. Maybe just not an enjoyable pint. Roasted malts with a bad aftertaste and little bit of hops were the flavor. More weird malt taste towards the finish. Not enjoyable.

Ruby red with a thin off white head. Good retention and good lacing. Aroma is caramel, sweet malts, chocolate and hops and floral notes. Taste is slightly fruity, with caramel and chocolate. Medium bitterness at the end with some toastiness and grassy hops. Slightly sweet. No carb, medium body. I found the bottled somewhat watery but probably nicer.

Cask at The Mulberry Leaves, Leek (Marstons) A clear ruby brown colour with a creamy off white head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, subtle dark fruits and spice. Taste of roasted malts, chocolate, toffee, some cherry and spicy hops. Medium bodied and quite smooth, little cold though. A roasted spiciness in the finish. A standard dark ale but smooth and tasty.

Cask handpump at The Mill, Cambridge. Ruby-brown with a good foamy head. Sadly a yeast scum visible when the head cleared. Very malty with sweet toffee in the nose, far too fruity in the mouth - almost tastes like vinegary red wine. Thin on the palate.

Cask in The Fleetsbridge, a Toby Carvery of all places; ruby, clear, no head; aroma is berry fruit, nuttiness; tastes dry and of berries, toasted malt; this example was a shade flabby but I’ve had enough of this in the past to regard it as one of the better mainstream cask beers.

On handpull at Rocklands Private Members Club in Redditch,Worcestershie.25/11/2012 This is a ruby coloured beer with a nose of strong malt and a hint of toffee. In the taste the malt flavour comes through with the toffee and a fruitiness which rounds it off nicely. However, this is not the beer it used to be when it was 5.00%,a pity to lose another once great beer to a lower level due to abv reduction,a story which is becoming all too familiar in certain classic English beers.

It's hobgoblin. The boring beer you have when there is not else. Red coloured, malty. Bit of a mess but ok. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
