COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular.
Was 5% - changed to 4.5% early 2008
Traditionally Crafted Legendary Ruby Beer.
Hobgoblin is strong in roasted malt with a moderate hoppy bitterness and slight fruity character that lasts through to the end.
The ruby red coloured Hobgoblin is full-bodied and has a delicious chocolate toffee malt flavour balanced with a rounded moderate bitterness and an overall fruity character.

Bierbörse Karlsruhe 2013 (Germany). Pours nice and dark reddish. Pleasant clean taste with a slight bitter twang and a nice kind of sherbert finish.

Cask, William Wygston, Wigston. Copper red with a dense cream foam. Aromas are molasses and cream with stewed apple. Some hints of berry with a light roast character. Flavours are sweet malts - caramel and toffee with some juicy fruit. Earthy hops on the finish. Decent.

Half on cask. Amber coloured. Small lasting white head. Dry fruity aroma. Well rounded flavour with a caramel component. Light bitter finish (Edgar Wallace, Temple 15.09.2006).

Cask hadpump quite regularly at the Hobgoblin on the Cowley Road. Dark reddish strong bitter that is quite malty and fruity, it is quite a busy beer flavour wise but has never been my favourite of the Wychwood stable.

The White Lion, Tamuff. Chestnut with a tight beige collar. Sulphur, caramel, slightly sourish stone fruit, a faint dusting of choc. Mellow, mild-like, dunkelish stillness. Alright, but a bit drab. Could use a richer or roastier depth of flavours.

A Mes rate: I have consumed many pints of this recently as the Hobgoblin Pub is round the corner frm where I work in Baker Street. Fruity aroma with slight sugar. Mahogany body with reasonable tan head. Surprisingly hoppy and floral given the colour and nose. Notes of lemon and vanilla too. Sweet yet hoppy finish. So so.

Cask-conditioned at the Hobgoblin, Bristol. Chestnut coloured with a decent off-white head that left plenty of lacing. Red fruit and sweet malt aroma. More fruit in the flavour before a decent bitter finish. Ok.

Pour on tap at Old Chicago, dark reddish brown pour with thin off white head, aroma brought notes of some sour grain, caramel, toffee, hints of spice, slight cardboard, just not the right tastes in here. Taste is similar, some sour grain, cardboard, some slight sweet caramel, toffee, finishing fairly sweet, slightly bitter.
