Flavor is roasted malt on the front balanced with hops towards the finish. Light carbonation, somewhat creamy mouthfeel. A little watery and weak in the end. East to drink, but not much to get excited about. PaulHegedus (464), Georgetown, Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 1, 2009 Bottle, room temp. This is dark amber in the glass. The head is creamy like milk chocolate foam, about one inch thick. I have to say, this pour looks wonderful with a big, billowing, frothy head, yeasty, coming out of the top of the glass like whipped cream. There’s a ton of raisin in the aroma with some brown sugar in the malt; I smell molasses, cherry, a bit of caramel. The mouthfeel is a bit thin. I taste more molasses, raisin, cherry, plenty of brown bread, caramel; there’s a bit of subtle hop bitterness in the finish. cmonster (75), Portland, Oregon, USA

Little lacing. Malty nose with tinge of toffee. Light-medium body, thin texture, and average carbonation. Mildly bitter flavor and finish. Refreshing yet unspectacular. A sessionable ale. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 26, 2009 500 mL Bottle with the Hobgoblin embossed along its sides. Deep copper-brown body with a fizzy off-white head that instantly dissipates to a wispy ring leaving some spotty lace. Rich sweet aroma of malts, toffee, figs, and grapes. The flavor is rich sweet malts with notes of toffee, caramel, plums, and mission figs. Plums and a very subtle hint of spices express in the aftertaste followed by whispers of caramel, crystal malt, and figs in the finish. A brew to have on a cool Halloween night after the trick-or-treaters have done their rounds. ako (153), Turku, Finland

Smells a bit like dishwashing liquid, which is actually a nice aroma, but a little disturbing for a beer. Slightly roasted malt, smooth. Not very bitter. BuckeyeBoy (1652), Boise, Idaho, USA
