Pours a deep coppery red with a nice tan head. Aroma is of cinnamon, molasses, anise, apples. Tastes of cinnamon, molasses, apple, some anise. Very drinkable... This is an ESB??? Not that ESB’s can’t be drinkable, this one shows little bitterness which is not something I would expect from a ESB. All in all a really nice beer though.

Solid but unspectacular pint. It has an interesting malt that puts it slightly above other bitters, but otherwise a dark bitter pure and simple. Pours witha lovely head and dark body. Full marks for presentation

Bottled. Poured dark copper-brown with lasting tan bubbly head. Fruity molasses aroma. Full bodied, dry, metallic bitter finish.

The beer is a rich ruby colour and has a caramely toffee aroma; these flavours follow through into the beers without being over powering. Suprisingly the beer is nicely balanced and the sweet aroma is not overpowering in the taste

Wychwood Hobgoblin is a very clear, reddish brown ale with a creamy, dense, yellow-beige head that has outstanding retention and leaves thick sheets of lacing on the glass. It looks perfect! The aroma is nutty and a little sweet. It has a roasty quality and there may be a note of chocolate in the nose. It smells slightly herbal and medicinal, and very English. It is medium-light bodied; very smooth with a dry, slightly scratchy finish. It’s a simple flavor that’s very pulled together. It’s slightly sweet, slightly bitter and perhaps a touch sour. There may be a little nuttiness. This is very sessionable!

500ml Bottle - Malty and slightly fruity aroma with hops, banana cake and and toffee being detected. Aniseed, malt, toffee, banana cake and some fruity hints in the taste.
