3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark amber, small white head. Weak malty skunky aroma. Nutty, coffeeish flavour, notes of burnt sugar and english hops. Quite bitter finish.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: AUG 23, 2003 Aroma is unimpressive. Flavor is slightly malty but mainly light and ordinary. This was a little disappointing. Whatever. Kill the hobgoblin!

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Not sure what's "extra strong" about this one - a pretty tame English Ale with very little carbonation and no head. Bitter, but not as much as most of its type. Caramel and roast, a bit of fruity aftertaste. Great label, not so great Ale.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: AUG 22, 2003 Copper coloured body from a nicely shaped bottle. Rather low carbonation. The little of head that there is taste the good fresh hops. Malty nose, nuts. Malty, but not too sweet in mouth, fruity, slight bitterness. Pleasant, english strong ale style is indeed questionable.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pleasing dark amber appearance and well carbonated. Little detectable aroma and a bland malt:hop balance. Minimal, if any bitterness. Hops and malt cancel each oteher out it in this smooth, insipid, brew that won't scare anyone. I would consider this an EPA.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Reddish color, fluffy, easily dying head. Soft and bitter with caramelly and roasty notes. The label is greater...

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nicely hopped and the roasted malt is evident.Mild flavours, but they dissipate rather quickly. Good quality beer-just nothing extraordinary about it.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Fairly large brown sugar and fruity malt (hint of butter, too). Less that generous, weedy disapating bitters. The label is damn intriguing, especially to an old RPG gamer, but the beer a little short of the mark.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Copper color with no head at all. Mild brown sugar aroma when it warms a bit, but you really have to search for much of anything on the nose. Mild malt flavors of toffee and brown sugar up front and through the middle building to a robust, earthy, and lingering hop bitterness in the finish. Not too shabby, but it certianly doesn't deliver in the aroma, complexity or body categories.

Why does it say powerful and full-bodied in the commercial description? This is a very thin and weak beer. Flat and boring. Wychwood should spend some time on improving their beer instead of making all those silly labels.
