3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours very dark ruby with almost no head. Aroma was malty and sweet, but no very strong. Flavor was nice. Malty, a litlle chocolate and good fruit. Not much hop in the finish, but a dry fruit aftertaste helps balance. Not much alcohol or body. Very little carbonation. Good flavor, a nice beer.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Starts out with a great head which soon disappears. Body too thin for my liking. Slightly chocolate flavour. An inoffensive beer.

2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Presentation: 500ml Clear english style bottle with a great beer cap (profile of the hobgoblin with an axe).
Gorgeous deep red color... not much of a head at all.
Smells VERY grassy... not what i expected out of this one.
Tastes pretty grassy too, with a hint of coffee. I do not taste the fruit that the finish was promised to present. The finish reminds me of iced tea.
Well, not an awful brew, but not one of the best. Cool bottle for my wall.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma is fruity and lightly malty. Pours a nice dark red amber, small lingering head. Flavor is richly malty, with aspects of dark toast and chocolate. Moderate hop bitterness. Medium-full body. Decent malty English ale.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Had on draft.Nice dark appearance(reddish in light) with bubbles rising like soda though this beer was close to flat in the wychwood tradition. There was a tease of nice malts(chocolate?)very smooth mouth that went into that chalky finish that just didn't appeal to me.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Not a bad looker despite the light head. Dark but shows it reddish hue against the light.
Some sweetish fruit in the aroma, but also other scents I'm not able to identify.
Flavour has hardly any coffee notes I was very much expecting. That would be to my relief, though. More of the dark fruits there. Quite pleasant, but could do with more body at least. The finish is the most interesting bit, reminds me of Sharps Blackcurrant menthols, which happent o be my favourite kind, so yea!
Instant re-rate: this stuff ain't bad, but it get's tired after hald a 0,5l bottle. Berry sweetness seems to overcome the hops.

3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Unusual aroma, not quite woody, more of a bracken odor. Ruby copper in a clear bottle, but unskunked nonetheless. Toffee and malt, with a slight bitterness but very little discernable hops. Almost an Old Ale, respectable but hardly worth the price of importation.

3.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a pure brown with a little head and even less lacing.
Scent was at first skunked. I was ticked. Why do breweries continue to use clear glass when brown is even cheaper!?! Aside from that was roasted malt.
The taste, thankfully, was not skunked. Too spicy to be considered a Brown, IMO, yet not nearly a Strong Ale. Not exactly complex, but respectable. There's some dark fruits and spices in with the malt, but I can't identify much more with this, but something about it is quite appealing.
Mouthfeel has the wonderful British minerals to it, but is otherwise thin yet creamy. Overall this is nice and worth seeking out.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hmmm....not too bad. Rich ruby colour topped with a nicely lasting creamy head - both in texture and in colour. Fairly full-flavoured (nutty with some maltiness) although a little thin in the mouth. Enjoyable but not quite sweet enough to stand out as a classic example and not quite tart enough to distinguish itself otherwise. Seems like good potential left just slightly unfulfilled...

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 26, 2005 Dark amber/brown color, off white smallish head. Definitley some noticeable malt. Slighty bitter. Bit of a sharp feel. Wouldn’t mind having again, but wary of the clear bottle.
