raymondwave (867), Finland Oct 16, 2008 Tap. Nut brown, small beigish head. Nose is syrupy, malty, sliightly candyish and earthy hay. Flavor is sweetish, syrupy with a bit of gingerbread. Not bad. Some roastiness. halfonit (424), Fall River, Massachusetts, USA Oct 11, 2008 Not too bad. I like the way the bottle looks and the color of the ale as well. Nice and dark with a little red in it (cherry wood as my gf says). I can smell hints of malts, nuts, and something of a fruity scent. Has that nut brown ale flavor to it with with something a little sweet in it. Aftertaste is pretty smooth making this an enjoyable brew. bbrock81 (218), Le Mars, Iowa, USA Oct 8, 2008 Wow, this stuff is bad. Pours a dark red/brown with little to no head. Aroma is medium, with malt, roastiness, coffee, and some hops. Flavor is not good. Unpleasant bitterness, soured coffee mixed with hops. Some maltiness in the background. Short, watery finish. Avoid. improvjock (93), Namegata-shi, Ibaraki-ken, Japan Oct 7, 2008 Pours a dark amber with medium off-white head. Roasted malts on the nose, malty and coffee/chocolate on the finish. Not bad, but probably not quite worth the price I paid for it. blutt59 (2045), Dallas, Texas, USA Oct 5, 2008 bottle, dark amber pour, light colored head, nose is like balsamic vinegar, flavor is astringent as well with some light dry cocoa, finish is a bit watery fidel (887), Livermore, California, USA Oct 5, 2008 Dark redish amber, roasted malts, caramel, bready, nutty, little fruity, slight hops. pkbites (309), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Oct 5, 2008 Pours a dark brown w/slight reddish tint, almost like a cola. Beige head goes flat instantly. Malty nose with some banana bread. Caramel and chocolate flavor. But there’s something else in it that I can’t describe. Like an artificial taste. I don’t like it, and it drags this way down. Short after-taste. This stuff tries, I mean it really tries. But that unusual taste in the backdrop is killing it. Gr0ve (1382), Oslo, Norway Oct 4, 2008 500 ml bottle. Dark brown with reddish hue. Tall light beige head that clings to the glass. Nutty rich münchener malt aroma. Earthy hops. Smooth texture. Fine carbonation. Powdery malt flavours. Slightly roasted and sweet. Almost vinous. Reminds me a little of the character one finds in Old Peculier. Nice and very drinkable.
