| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 9, 2009 Bottle. Pours a ruby copper color with a thin beige head. Aromas are a bland mix of apple juice concentrated, toffee and a nuttiness. Flavor is more of the same... the apples are underdeveloped and the toffee comes through fairly robustly. Nuts and oak leaves make the finish earthy and slightly bitter. Stew41 (1050), Caulfield, Australia
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 7, 2009 A good Vienna / dark ale (to my tastes) that works well for summer drinking. Roast and toffee is lightly done but works well for the style. Finishes with minerals and tang. andreic (53), Ireland

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 1, 2009 500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a dark reddish brown with small off-white head. Fruity aroma with hint of toffee as well. Flavour is sweet with nice notes of fruit, raisin, toffee, slight roastiness. Not much in the way of a finish. Ok. CUJO (339), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 31, 2009 bottle: pint glass: this scary little bastard was staring at me from one of the lower shelves in a dingy Brooklyn corner store... so I thought to myself, what’s the worst that could happen?! Poured a clear, deep brown/ amber leaving a thin tan head ring. The nose is all malts and roasted notes... the taste is very much the same... loads of smoke and malts... not much balance. blackbock (35), Australia
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 31, 2009 (bottle) I was expecting to be underwhelmed by this one but it surprised me a lot. A deep red-amber colour with some toffe-like aromas present. Actually the nose reminded me a lot of some factory belgians I have had. There is a definite aley fruitiness that went well with the hops used. Bitterness was surprisingly low, but ample. Another! Demise (57), Wellington, New Zealand
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 30, 2009 Pours red with an off-white head. Smells of raspberries, roasted malt, and subtle caramel. The flavours are similar, but bigger. It tastes of raspberries, has a strong plum flavour, slight hop bitterness and a roasted malt finish - very balanced. Clean on the palate despite the big flavours. Scubatrip (388), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Oct 26, 2009 On tap, pours very dark with no head. Aroma is tainted by bar ambience. Taste is a bit watery and bitter. Has a flavor of pine wood charcoal, or stale meat smoker taste. That may be a bit esoteric. I have fonder memories of this in a bottle, but it’s just ok on tap.
