mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Sep 20, 2008 small khaki head into (just) brown body. aromas of light hops, light caramel malts, some spices, and a touch of fruit. flavor is light bitter throughout with a hint of sweetness. lively carbonation. watery to dry texture. okay brew. kseecs16 (865), Naperville, Illinois, USA Sep 19, 2008 Bottle. Pours red brown with a big light tan head. A cola like bubbling pervades the beer, leaves little lacing. Aroma is non-descript roasted malt with hints of grassy hops. Flavor is dry, roast character and finishes with a floral hoppy note. Has a dry lingering bitteriness and a full creamy body. mcsquint (93), , Missouri, USA Sep 19, 2008 Poured from 500 ml bottle. Medium dark color with slightly off-white head which, surprisingly, dissipated quickly. Decent amount of lacing. Malty toffee flavor with a hoppier flavor than expected. Slightly fruity as well. Not bad. I have had better ales that would be in this same category. mansquito (819), Boston/Philadelphia, USA Sep 18, 2008 I got this on tap, but it was in America, so I am not sure if it counts as the cask beer or not. Even so, I will attempt to rate this beer. Slightly off-white head. Brown see through body. Sugary and fruity aroma. Mild hops taste. Bitter finish. Slightly sweet. Heavy on the malts. Almost spicy at times. It’s ok. patricks110 (276), Alberta, Canada Sep 17, 2008 0.5 L bottle. Brown goldd coloured body with large off white creamy head. Aroma of sweet malts, grassy florall notes, roasted nuts and caramel. Palate is medium body and smooth crisp mouthfeel. Taste is bitter malts, and nutty chocalateyness. Overall, a wonderful beer and a really cool name and label. evanrail (41), Prague, Czech Republic Sep 11, 2008 Bottle from Cider Club, Prague. Clear deep muddy-amber, thick-set and long-lasting dirty cream head. Nice nose! Toffee, malt, and some grassy vegetal notes. (Eyes closed, and not having read the label: "That must be Fuggles.") In the mouth, a candy rush of malt and syrup followed by a short, crisp finish. Enjoyable though not essential. MrAleman (111), Wiltshire, England Sep 9, 2008 Is the picture of the Goblin not off-putting enough. I imagine this is the sort of beer Goblins like to drink, this is remarkably unpleasant. SuperDave70 (1157), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Sep 9, 2008 Dark brown color with a small tan head that fades rather quickly. Roasted malt, fruit and light hops in the aroma and flavor. A touch of a strange flavor on the finish, which wasn’t enjoyable. Not bad overall.
