heavy (805), Split, Croatia Jun 10, 2008 07/06 0.5l can courtesy of ogivlado, great thanks, shared with Doggythedog. Poured clear dark brown reddish body with small brownish head. Nice caramel aroma, enriched with some fruits. Flavor is not so fine, bitter roasted sugar and coffee, pleasant, but thin bodied. Finish is short, dry with hints of cardboard. Didn’t like it so much. Actually didn’t realized it’s different style at all until I came here. realbama (35), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Jun 8, 2008 Updated: Jun 9, 2008The aroma of this brew smells like urine to me. But with such an overwhelmingly detestable character on the label, I figured it may be a crude joke, so I ventured on. The taste is not that bad. Neither is the aftertaste. Another beer I would never buy a sixer of, but I was surprised at the taste (of course, anything that smells like urine that ends up tasting descent will deserve this honor). So, eh, go ahead and give it a whirl for yourself! Beth101 (315), West Yorkshire, England Jun 7, 2008 Dark in colour, smelt very malty, had a strong taste of malt and hops with a hint of coffee. Had a bitter after taste. Doggythedog (1541), Split, Croatia Jun 7, 2008 0.5l can courtesy of ogivlado (thanks!), shared with heavy A canned bitter... a first for me I believe. Poured a dark dark red with a tiny off white head. A light but somewhat pleasant taste, some nice, if weak hopiness, bit piney/lemony. Honeyish, with an earthy, roasty finish. Not bad but it didn’t rock my world. Hansgruber (16), winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Jun 3, 2008 Well worth every penny you pay. Rich, red, refreshing. Trust me, in canada.... WE DRINK BEER! bearlybrewed (33), Colorado, USA Jun 2, 2008 Aroma was a a bit confusing, but pleasant. Hoppy aroma, dark amber coloring with some lace. Malt flavor with strong hoppiness after taste. Medium weight in the mouth with sofness. Interesting flavor of earthiness, nut. Definately would drink again.
BritAlesRule (84), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jun 1, 2008 A decent English Bitter. Highly drinkable. Quickly dissipating head with nice lacing. English toffee-malt character and Fuggles hops are apparent, though to a lesser degree than what you find in a Fullers if you are a big fan of those beers (which I am). This is the kind of Brit Ale I always thought of as the way an Ale should be brewed before I took on the whole Belgian thing. Dry and very good, just not very exciting. Ljunkan (379), Karlstad, Sweden May 28, 2008 Dissapointed with this one. Can’t find anything special. I thought this one would be a nice caramel-flavored beer with a nice fuggles bitterness, but I can’t find that. Drinkable, but boring. Not a rebuy.
