| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 28, 2008 I acquired this beer in a pint size and I was quite surprised at how good it really was. At first, I smelled the aroma and it didn’t seem too appealing. I then poured it into my Oktoberfest beerstein for a glimpse of the attractive dark reddish brown color. The flavor is extremely enjoyable and contains primarily malt, caramel, and a slight hint of hops. Overall a damn good beer! debianlinux (10), North Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 27, 2008 This is a top beer for the "Can find it in most places worth looking" category. This is a sure pleaser for the type who thinks Newcastle is a good beer. The pint size will go further and the nutty brown foundation is strong enough to get you there. Only had this one in the bottle. Colder=Better. Crafty07 (391), Florence, Kentucky, USA

Agree with other reviewers who note the fruity presence but slight hop bitterness.
This is a well made and an excellent session beer. HerrBier (12), Richardson, Texas, USA

A nice change from the heavy hoppes brews being shoved onto the public at the moment though. Also, you can tell people you are having ’a touch of the old hobgoblin tonight’ which is well worth the price of admission. albertane (376), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 1/5 | 8/20 | Feb 22, 2008 To me, this looks like, and has the mouthfeel of Coke or Pepsi. The flavour isn’t bad, with some caramel and bready malt. Not really my sort of thing at all. almosi (279), Viña del Mar, Chile
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Feb 21, 2008 Has a dark red color, with lights ruby color. The aroma is toasted, malty. The flavor is quite good, is strong the flavor to toffe of Malt. Has one slight bitterness, but the fruits predominate, until the end. She is light, with very little body. Balanced beer, that drinks well. gpekar (223), Maryland, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 18, 2008 It poured a deep brown/red color with a tall, thick, creamy head. The head left a light lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was subtle. Hints of chocolate and hops. The taste was slightly metallic and slightly bitter. I thought the beer was a little thin in consistancy. The bitterness was mild and lasted throughout the glass and on the palate for awhile
