Perm (151), Tryon, North Carolina, USA Jan 28, 2008 Appearance: Dark, ruddy, and inviting
Aroma: Warm, enticing.
Flavor: ’Sublime, a hint of chocolate/toffee and caramel with a fantastic English hop presence.
Palate: Smooth and supple.
Overall: A brown ale that leaves Newcastle behind in the dust. Highly recommended. Try with a good grass-fed burger, or anything with mushrooms. GMUcrew7 (353), Mason, Ohio, USA Jan 27, 2008 Pours nice nice amber color with moderate carbination. Aroma is mostly malty. Taste is more like a weak brown ale, not memorable at all. thekmoonlegend (93), Lynn, Massachusetts, USA Jan 23, 2008 Deep amber-red color, almost ruby. Very little head and carbonation. Chocolate, caramel, and malty aroma. Smooth, flavor was malty and smoky with a watery finish and bitter aftertaste. Good beer. Pwn3d (1036), Manhattan, New York, USA Jan 23, 2008 First off, nice bottle and image.. very cool! Maybe my first ESB. It had a swartzbier’ish nose, nice dark ruby pour which retained nearly no head. Mildly syrupy and maybe a bit watery at the same time.. finished bitter. Solid brew. KnN (712), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Jan 21, 2008 One of my favorite offerings from Wychwood and one of the most available. Very pleasant beer, nice and smooth. Nothing to knock your socks off, but a good drinking beer. jredmond (1015), New Jersey, USA Jan 19, 2008 12 oz bottle. This beer was pretty good. Aroma is sweet nut. The taste is nut and roasty malt maybe. altonbrownd (1862), Amsterdam, Netherlands Jan 18, 2008 Bottle bought in London. Dark brown with tan head. Creamy with orange aftertase. Distinctive butterscotch taste. Also caramel. Quite powerful and enjoyable. Liked it. weaselkenievil (738), Cheshire, England Jan 16, 2008 Bottle from evil hag from hell. I liked this a lot, probably one of the best bitters I’ve tried. Nice caramel brown colour. Slight hint of vimto in there or is that me? Carbonated the right amount for me, I thought this was a good un. Cheers!
