Hobgoblin is a powerful full-bodied copper red, well-balanced brew. Strong in roasted malt with a moderate hoppy bitterness and slight fruity character that lasts through to the end.

0,5L bottle, BB 04.01.15. (I got it as a gift). Pours ruby with off white head. The head stays. Aroma is malt, metallic, and caramel. Taste follows the nose. Finish is slight bitter. Overall: ok, but nothing special.

500ml bottle, 5.2%. A dark ruby ale that pours with a small head. The texture is full-bodied and it is full of flavour. Slightly bitter but pleasant tasting. Would recommend it

Ruby red, frothy light beige head. Nose is malt, caramel sweetness, fruity notes. Flavour is metal notes, malt, fruit. Hops in the finish and some caramel. Not bad, but pretty middle of the road. Shared by martjoobolut, thanks!

Had this many times in the past. Pours dark ruby with an off white head. It is what it is, but does anyone else get a light hint of mint?

330ml bottle from Asahiya, I haven’t seen this size bottle before. Usually, I see 500ml bombers... anyways, it pours dark brown with ruby highlights and a beige head. A rich malty, caramel, figs, plum malt forward aroma. A nice med-full body with a silky verging on slick mouthfeel. The taste is pretty good but has an almost boozy quality to it which is fairly surprising considering the 5.2% ABV. Malty taste of plums, caramel, light fudge, fruity - actually fairly nice. It isn’t too cloying or overly sweet so overall a quite nice English Ale. Think a lighter version of a belgian dark ale... but it doesn’t gel into something greater than the sum of it’s parts.

This is a pale ale of sound quality but no great distinction. The aroma and mouthfeel are less than noteworthy although the taste is what you’d expect from a pale ale. Billed as a "ruby beer" it does have a sweet finnish which Comes through the mild hopping. No grassy Fuggles coming through for me. Pleasant.
