4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Ruby, with beige head and lacing. Fruity aroma of ripe berries, young wine and plum jam, with a hint of darker malt. Complex and satisfying taste with good drinkability.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500 ml bottle bought at Market Place by Jason’s in K11, Tsim Sha Tsui.
Clear deep copper brown colour with no yeast sediments; One finger head and off-white foam which fades in 40 seconds; Small sticky lacing and fizzy small carbonation; Quite fragrant and sweet aroma of dark ale malt, with caramel, toffee, raisins, light plums, sugar, light musty, strong lemon and light grass; Very light sweet taste of light ale malt, with light roastyness and nuts, thin tartness, caramel, Cola, strong toast, light bread, light yeast, lime, moderate bitter hops and light sharp grass; Close to light body, watery palate; Mouth feel is non-sweet dark ale malt, lightly roasted and nutted. Good caramel palate with a strong toffee undertone despite its watery body. Virtually no sweetness, light bread and strong lemony hops give it a pretty good balance. Quite nice… Hoppiness is strong lemon and light grass in nose, lime, hint of grapefruit and light sharp grass in taste. Moderate to light bitterness for a short citrusy grassy finish; Slightly dry after taste. Easy and hoppy to mouth.
Comments: Like most PB / ESBs, this one has decent fragrant, sweet and dark fruity aroma not being matched by the non-sweet caramel taste. That said, it was achieved via a watery body is quite amazing, and I can’t imagine how nice it would be with a thicker and richer body. It’s pretty decent style-wise, even though I realize I am not a big fan of this style. Recommendable nevertheless.

Coffee, chocolate, and caramel make a great tasting beer, however the flavours are a touch light. A nice beer to be enjoyed with appetizers like chicken nachos.

0,5L bottle, BB 04.01.15. (I got it as a gift). Pours ruby with off white head. The head stays. Aroma is malt, metallic, and caramel. Taste follows the nose. Finish is slight bitter. Overall: ok, but nothing special.

500ml bottle, 5.2%. A dark ruby ale that pours with a small head. The texture is full-bodied and it is full of flavour. Slightly bitter but pleasant tasting. Would recommend it

Ruby red, frothy light beige head. Nose is malt, caramel sweetness, fruity notes. Flavour is metal notes, malt, fruit. Hops in the finish and some caramel. Not bad, but pretty middle of the road. Shared by martjoobolut, thanks!

Had this many times in the past. Pours dark ruby with an off white head. It is what it is, but does anyone else get a light hint of mint?
