I’ve always avoided these beers because of the stupid Dungeons and Dragons bottle. They say "never judge a book by its cover", and this runs true to an extent for this one. A little bit too sweet and sickly for me, but not the worst as there is some hoppiness there and it is certainly palatable enough - a couple of marks off for the Lord of the Rings style themes mind! Rich caramel and nutty tones especially at warmer temperature paired very well with chili con carne as the spices melded into the hops. Heavy start with a very fast finish. Didn’t catch as much of the fruitness in this bottle. Respectable but nothing to get too excited about. Scauca (409), Lovere, Italy
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 27, 2007 Nutty brown with a disappearing head. Aroma is sweet nutty, chocolate and little mocha. Little fruitiness. Hoppiness is slightly noticeable. Medium bodied. Flavour is unbalanced toward a skunky bitterness. A little roastness. Nothing more. Classic brew? Beershine (2686), Hue, Vietnam

Malty through and through but the hop is there in the afterbite. Happy beer, even if not outstanding in any department. JaPe (69), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

It’s almost has two tiers of carbonation giving it an almost ebb and flow feel to the palate. Wulfstan (509), California, USA

The aroma is very dark malty, a bit of toffee, with a floral element, earht, and hints of chocolate and fruit. The taste is full and rich, with a rich malty body, sweetness, slightly earthy, toasty, a faint coffee element, and a perfectly balanced piney hop bite. The finish is smooth, long-lasting, and aromatic. The flavours blend together very well and not much stands out on its own, but the balance and blending are outstanding. The result is delicious and full flavoured, yet exceedingly smooth and drinkable.. charlotte (2013), Vanløse, Denmark
