| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 25, 2007 Got this one bottled at Whole Foods. Pours a very dark color (appears black to me at the top but gets redder towards the bottom of the glass). The thin white head on top quickly dissipates. The aroma is of malt, sugar and toffee. Tastes is very malty but I wish this one had a bit more kick. It gets very watery on the back of my tongue. Not my favorite but definitely a serviceable brew. robforbes (1085), Bremerton, Washington, USA

smell - roasted walnuts, hint of dark cocoa, malt, brown sugar.
taste - tart, cocoa, a bit of blackberry, thin palate, touch of coffee.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 18, 2007 Dark red-amber pour with a short off-white head. Great looking beer, both in the glass and the packaging. Not much chocolate/toffee flavor like the label says. However the toffee flavor comes in the aftertaste. There is a fruity quality this brew that is subtle, but nice. 500 ml. bottle. mgermani (863), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 17/20 | Sep 16, 2007 Pours a dark amber with an off-white creamy head and nice lace. Light toffee aroma, too subtle though. Unusual malt profile for an ESB - chocolate & roasty. Light crystal, nice hops. Watery bodywith a warm finish and decent carb. Slightly creamy. Overall, nice hops and interesting malting, but lacking in body. andymccabe501 (5), England does not count | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 11, 2007 to use some generic comments, Fizzy, an abrupt end to the flavour sadly, Starts off well, but just doesnt "carry" the flavour off to the very end (sadly).
The look of the beer, is very dark, with an almost sparkling head (when it’s been poured from a bottle, it almost looks like coke or pepsi)
A good ale non the less, and i look forward to trying it on tap
