Starts off well, but fades fast. You get just a hint of a full bodied ale, but it drops off nearly immediately. Because it had no lasting power, I wouldn’t go for it again, or recommend it for that matter. Beyond that, I can’t really think of anything constructive to deliver to you.

Tap. Dark reddish brown. Medium, foamy, tan head. Woody flavors. Aromas of cereal & herbs. Finish, slight bitterness. Cask could be the best option for this beer.

Bottled. Pours a dark brown and has a small, tan head. Sweet caramel and roasted malt aromas. Nutty and chocolate flavours with a slight hoppy kick and then a larger dose of dry hops in the finish. Perhaps a touch thin on the palate but easily drinkable. [Original rating = 6/3/7/3/12]

Rather thin-bodied but tasty. The Hobgoblin’s flavor was a coffee-flavored malt with just a hint of grape.

500ml bottle. 26th Jan 2007. Pours dark brown with a small head and little carbonation. Hoppy aroma and sweet, nutty malt taste. A bit too sweet for this little complexity. Not very memorable and rather average.

500ML single from Bayville Package Store, Selbyville, DE...pours a dark brown-reddish color with a small off-white head...smell is malty, faint dark fruit...taste is the same but a bit watery, thin mouthfeel...overall I enjoyed this beer, very drinkable.

Malty and mild hops. Very English/British ESB versus an American ESB. Soft water, very little head, with a taste of quality ingredients. No off flavors or smells. Thin palate and no taste of alcohol. Mild sticky cough syrup at end and a little metallic on the finish.
