Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 13B). Bottle 33 cl - Batch 4CGM22:39. AROMA: toasty malt with a slight caramelly background and low sweetness present. balanced to forward earthy hop aroma. APPEARANCE: brown color and clear. moderate ivory head with good to medium retention. TASTE: initial of a moderate to low sweet caramel note, followed by a supportive floral hop flavour. medium-low bitterness just to offset the slight sweetness, that lingers beyond a semi-dry finish. PALATE: medium-low body with a slight texture. moderate carbonation. OVERALL: a nice brown ale showcasing british hops (with a floral and earthy tone), and less caramelly malt.

Hazy dark copper color. Creamy light brown 1 finger head dead in around 3 minutes. Average legs and highly active. Strong aromas and flavors of toffee, citrus and fruitiness with some herbal spices. Great combination of crisp sourness and thick sweetness taste with a earthy roasted nut feel. Slick full body with perfect carbonation. Pleasant balanced finish ending with a sweet mouth coat and smoky bitter clove like aftertaste. Overall : Tons of flavors and good freshness, well balanced excellent craft.

0.5l bottle from Britishtore.hu. Nice, thick and creamy head, brown body with a hint of ruby when held against light. Foam has malty, somewhat sour and somewhat bitter taste, sourness also detectable in aroma. Taste is dominated by "British" maltiness, whatever that means. Well, it means mildly roasted malt, some caramel, moderate bitterness and also some unidentifiable fruitiness. Well balanced, well composed. Smooth, silky carbonation. Still, there is some moderate but unpleasant medicin-like bitterness in it (fairly common in some brown British ales) which prevents this beer from becoming a favourite for me. Very good and complex beer, just not my style.
