Pours a nice dark red color with a small head that dissipates quickly. Initial taste is sweet with a short and bland aftertaste. Aroma consists of dough and a sweetness best described by caramel and vanilla. Hints of grape came to mind at the end of the glass. An allright beer. I could drink a few of these.

I thought I was losing my olfaction because I couldn’t quite place the aroma. Was it some tart fruit? bread? barley? something sugary? I decided that either I was picking up scents from all of these, or the aroma was just like the flavor--bland. It’s very thin-bodied, and when you add the heavy carbonation and the inconspicuous alcohol to it, the brew makes you feel like you’re drinking a soda. The appearance is beautiful--nice amber with a little ruby red. The head is thin and the lacing dissipates quickly. Overall, I enjoyed the taste even with its aforementioned characteristics, but it’s definitely nothing special.

Glad this comes in brown bottles now. Caramel and enough hops to make this work. Wish our local brown ale was this good Page 503 of Michael Jackson’ s Great Beer Guide.

Poured deep amber with a smallish light tan head. Aroma of lightly roast malt (sweet), some yeast and bark notes. Taste is again somewhat sweet mildly roasted malt, but with a surprising amount of hops and even tannin-like bitterness - fairly balanced, not a long linger and the bitter lasts longer than the sweet. Smooth, somewhat lively, but unmemorable on the palate.

Bottled. Poors a small head. Beautiful amber colour. Aromas of caramel, plums. Taste of hay-like hops, roasty malt, caramel, some chocolate presence. Hoppy finish. I like the artwork too. Good beer.

Bottle. Rich amber color, fast fading head. Very little carbonatioin. Bread and barley aroma with a tinge of berry. Heavy feel on the palate kinda brings me down. Strong malt flavor, even stronger hop flavor. Too much flavor. Definitely not a session beer, my taste buds and stomach are spent after half a bottle.

[179-20070105] 500mL. Earthy bark aroma with faint notes of flatulence. Clear, ruby amber body with a medium-lasting creamy and bubbly off-white head. Flavour has malted barley notes, lightly toasted. Medium-full body that’s initially a bitter feel and eventually smoothes out. Interesting aroma and nice colour but flavour seems wanting.
