one of the best ales i have tried, this may be because i had it at home and at a cooler temperature than most ales are served at. a smooth taste, not too overbearing.

Aroma has a sour maltiness with hints of prunes. Color is a clear reddish brown with tiny floaters. There is a moderate head lacking staying power. Flavor starts off malty, with a little sting from the carbonation. Mild bitter finish Medium bodied, somewhat dry. Nothing really objectionable, nothing to get excited about.

Bottle. Red-brown colour with a rather short lasting bubbly white head. Fruity and malty aroma. Flavour is fruity, some caramel, nice mild roasty maltiness with a good bitter hoppiness. Dry hoppy finish. Smakkar einastandandi væl!

A: a nice looking ruby reddish brown ale, with just under 1 inch of cream-colored head, lasts a bit and leaves some nice lacing. S: this is a very sweet smelling beer, with hints of toffee and bready, brown sugar, and even allows a minor whiff of alcohol to escape. T: beer comes off slightly sweet and features a subtle malted sugary flavor that reminds me of sweetened bread and some nice fruit flavors along the lines of raisins and dates. My major complaint is that the beer almost entirely lacks any hoppiness whatsoever. M: there is a decent amount of carbonation that remains constant throughout the entire beer and leaves an overall nice feel as your drink it. D: easy to drink, probably a good session beer, but overall not exciting enough for me to drink a whole lot of. Decent.

Why in this day and age are brewers still botteling beer in clear glass?? I wonder how much the flavor is impacted by the damaging UV rays while this sits on store shelves. Poured a dark amber with an average size off white head. Light malty flavor that was slightly sweet and a little bit skunkiness also. Finsih was slightly bitter. This beer reminded me a lot of Newcastle Brown Ale. For the money I would just get the NBA instead.

[Tasted in 2003.] Surprisingly good beer, which can be enjoyed for several hours. A few negative rumours from the neighbor made some nonexisting hopes for this beer, but the test showed something else. Bitterness in the ESB-way combined with some freshness makes this beer quite well.

bottle, medium-dark amber, thought i must say i was surprised at the tiny head. Very nice malty aroma with a nice tang. mildly hoppy with a nice fruity twine.

Bottle: Medium amber pour with a small white head. Aroma is typical malt and hops, sweeter than hoppy. Taste is more malty than I like in an ESB, but still had some floral and fruity hops. Not bad, but needs more hops.
