Pretty decent balanced darkish beer. Not much head. Looks a bit like cola and has an initial sweetish taste reminiscent of sarsaparilla and brandied cherries. Some flouriness in the texture. Mild bitterness follows, a little disturbingly like a Panadol pill at the back of the tongue. Warming, fairly unusual, not one of my favourites but not altogether unpleasant. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle (gift) consumed at home. Ruby brown. A bit of head, and not as much carbonation as youíd usually expect in a ísupermarket bitterí. Excellent nose: fruitcake, molasses, a hint of smoke. Blackberry and cooton candy. A sweet taste that is satisfying despite not really living up to the aroma. Balanced yet complex bitter finish. Quite a good recipe really, at a strength befitting the beer.

Bottle. Dark copper colour, rocky head that does not stay long, almost no lacing. Aroma is mostly herbal hops, some toffee. Light bitterness, the beer is rather dry, with bitter finish. Light body, soft carbonation, very easy to drink. Quite ok, although the taste might be more intensive.

I donít even know with Wychwood anymore. Itís either my favourite shitty brewery or my least favourite awesome brewery. I have never had one of their beers truly disappoint me, but I have also never had the pleasure of one truly wowing me. Even though as I drink this I am gradually increasing the score. Pretty, sure, but there is something weird and fruity going on here. Maybe I like it one sip. Maybe not the next. Itís like a light fruitcake or a mild plum pudding, some dark cherry liqueur got spilled in it. Like some brown with sexy nondescript jam on it. This one has some nice body, a lilí chomp I reckon, better than their usual fare. Alrighty, now I want to watch "Oliver" so this must be a bit of okay then.

Poured from a 500cl bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Has a nice caramel and malt aroma. Appearance- A rich dark brown color with a tan colored head. Taste-A toasted malt and yeast flavor with a caramel aftertaste. Palate- A medium bodied brew with light carbonation and a slightly oily feel. Overall- A really enjoyable ESB for me, I will definitely drink this again.

Clear deep copper, sizeable beige head. Aroma is malty and floral. Flavours of biscuit, bread, dried fruit, light spice. Light to medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Better than expected.

This is a decent ale that I tried when I was in England - It runs a bit closer to the amber ales and isnít overly bitter like some - It has a toasty and caramel taste to it. Definitely enjoyable :)

Appearance: Dark brown body allowing shadows through with a light tan creamy decent sized head. Spotty lacing.

Aroma: Rich caramel candy aroma with a bit of a wood scent.

Taste: Biscuit and toast flavors with a touch of roasted nuts.

Mouthfeel: It has a good mouthfeel. Nothing spectacular to point out, it just feels right for this beer giving it a medium presence on the palate with a touch of bite from the roasted grains.

Overall: Itís a fairly average ESB. Itís an import so Iím willing to try it again if I can get it fresh. It didnít have as much of a caramel overtone as many other ESBís that Iíve had, but it has a nice biscuit quality which is pleasant enough to make it an enjoyable drinking experience. Itís in that middle ground of not recommending but not warning against drinking.
