We conducted a blind taste test with this beer and 5 other brown ales to objectively determine which one was best. The 5 beers were: Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale, Lost Coast Downtown Brown, Big Sky Moose Drool, Newcastle Brown, and Wychwood Hobgoblin. You can view the video here: http://youtu.be/oz0hSSylY70

Bottle at a BOSS meeting, thanks to Brent. Pours amber with a thin, creamy off white head. Aroma is slightly malty and some caramel. Thin bodied. Nice beer.

500 ml can. Hoppy smell, chocolate, dark fruits, roasted malts. Look is perfect! Beautiful dark amber color with a big dense white head that stays. Delicious creamy taste, just a little watersish aftertaste, but it is really nice. Tremendous beer for me, don’t agree with the other moderate reviews at all. This is a top league beer.

Nicer-than-average English fruity bitter. Dark brown/ ruby red. Sweet aroma - Christmas-blend coffe/ orange chocolate/ caramel sweetness; some bubblegum ester. Clash of light bitterness and fruity vibes - nice balance. Medium, creamier-than-average body, a little too much fizz. Finish a bit cliff-drop quick, albeit with a slight fruit return.

Bottled. Deep brown with thin head and soft carbonation. Nose has yeasty, cakey, chocolate, coffee with a hint of bubblegum. Taste is hops, apricot, strawberries, coffee with dry tangy bitter finish. Palate is a bit too fizzy, but otherwise a nice beer.

Old rating. Red brown pour. Pretty sweet - caramel, brown sugar, fruity, bready body. Bitterness at the end. Just okay.

Bottle. Pours ruby with an off white head. Peppery spice flavour with some caramel, stewed fruit and a touch of pear drop. OK. I used to love this stuff before I discovered the world of craft beer. How times have changed...

Avermelhada, espuma marrom claro de breve duração, lacing irregular. Aroma adocicado que lembra morango, caramelizada. Paladar adocicado, amargor bem discreto. Aftertaste relembra frutas vermelhas, carbonação e corpo leves, adocicado, leve.

Appearance: dark ruby, slightly hazed, with a fizzy/creamy light tan head. Aroma: some chocolate and molasses, a bit of brown sugar, earthy and herbal hops, maybe some dark fruit. Taste: caramel, molasses, and treacle, but not overly sweet; some herbal, nearly medicinal hop notes. Finish: earthy, slightly astringent, also rather muddled. Notes: Not my cup of tea. Bitterness was on the medicinal side, which I found off-putting. Bottle brought to Beerble Study by Michael.
