llcooldave (180), San Antonio, Texas, USA May 24, 2008 Nice dark leather brown in color. gorgeous roasted malt flavor with a hint of coffee bitterness thrown in. Aroma was funky at the beginning but that dissapated and changed to a fresh toasty bread. Overall, this is a solid quality brew... I’ll definitely be purchasing this again
halfonit (57), Fall River, Massachusetts, USA Oct 11, 2008 Not too bad. I like the way the bottle looks and the color of the ale as well. Nice and dark with a little red in it (cherry wood as my gf says). I can smell hints of malts, nuts, and something of a fruity scent. Has that nut brown ale flavor to it with with something a little sweet in it. Aftertaste is pretty smooth making this an enjoyable brew. bbrock81 (193), Le Mars, Iowa, USA Oct 8, 2008 Wow, this stuff is bad. Pours a dark red/brown with little to no head. Aroma is medium, with malt, roastiness, coffee, and some hops. Flavor is not good. Unpleasant bitterness, soured coffee mixed with hops. Some maltiness in the background. Short, watery finish. Avoid. improvjock (56), USA Oct 7, 2008 Pours a dark amber with medium off-white head. Roasted malts on the nose, malty and coffee/chocolate on the finish. Not bad, but probably not quite worth the price I paid for it. blutt59 (796), Dallas, Texas, USA Oct 5, 2008 bottle, dark amber pour, light colored head, nose is like balsamic vinegar, flavor is astringent as well with some light dry cocoa, finish is a bit watery fidel (210), Livermore, California, USA Oct 5, 2008 Dark redish amber, roasted malts, caramel, bready, nutty, little fruity, slight hops.
