Bottle - deep mahogany with a thick light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, oak, a little dark fruit and caramel. Taste of oak, earth, pine and chocolate with some biscuit. Medium to heavy body with low carbonation.

Ruddy amber/ ruby brew with, a nose full of cocoa powder/ choc/ touch of toffee. Taste similarly toffee/ caramel/ choc, with a little hopping and a quick dry finish. Like a dubbel but less chewy and roasty than that. An altogether drier, slightly thicker, more ’one-note’ but refined version of Hobgoblin.

ASPETTO: marrone con riflessi granata, limpido. Schiuma beige, abbondante e abbastanza persistente.

Brewed only on a Full Moon, a vintage version of an all time great. I literally found this a slightly better, stronger crack of the whip. It’s biggest difference from the non kingly version, this addition has a powerful Aroma, it hits the nose from across the room, and pack’s a Toasty, Roasted Cocoa, oddly Banana toffee like Aroma, though a little overpowering in that it melts your nasal passages. It pours a deep darkest of dark ruby glimmering Ale, a little hazy with a Liberal medium brown, frothy head. In the mouth it literally feels just like Hobgoblin, Stout like, Heavy and strong, of great fortitude. I find it’s taste simply a stronger more punchy version of regular Hob, Toasty, dominating chocolate, vanilla, and high Coffee profile. It’s Finish is much longer and provides a smooth, but warming bitter-sweet taste, an amazing Brew and a Bold step.

Bottle from asda. Pint glass. Much thicker feel that hobgoblin and indeed most of this breweries beers. Caramel, citrus, spruce. Deep red amber beer. Very good.

A much heavier hitter than the Hobgoblin, that strength adds a great new deeper darker taste
