3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark clear brown pour with white head. Thick malty nose. What an odd mouth. Quite the mix of taste and flavours. It may be a bit much. I havenít decided yet. Sweet caramel at first, then a touch of bitterness thatís replaced by a really earthy malt. This is then replaced by a bit of a boozy burn. The aftertaste is roasty and lingers a bit too long. I do like the way the booziness kind of burns away the confusing beginning of the mouth. Itís a unique sensation but one I find I like. I prefer this quite a bit over Hobgoblin and Iím saddened that this is seasonal.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Ruddy amber/ ruby brew with, a nose full of cocoa powder/ choc/ touch of toffee.
Taste similarly toffee/ caramel/ choc, with a little hopping and a quick dry finish.
Like a dubbel but less chewy and roasty than that. An altogether drier, slightly thicker, more íone-noteí but refined version of Hobgoblin.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
ASPETTO: marrone con riflessi granata, limpido. Schiuma beige, abbondante e abbastanza persistente.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Brewed only on a Full Moon, a vintage version of an all time great.
I literally found this a slightly better, stronger crack of the whip.
Itís biggest difference from the non kingly version, this addition has a powerful Aroma, it hits the nose from across the room, and packís a Toasty, Roasted Cocoa, oddly Banana toffee like Aroma, though a little overpowering in that it melts your nasal passages.
It pours a deep darkest of dark ruby glimmering Ale, a little hazy with a Liberal medium brown, frothy head.
In the mouth it literally feels just like Hobgoblin, Stout like, Heavy and strong, of great fortitude.
I find itís taste simply a stronger more punchy version of regular Hob, Toasty, dominating chocolate, vanilla, and high Coffee profile.
Itís Finish is much longer and provides a smooth, but warming bitter-sweet taste, an amazing Brew and a Bold step.

A much heavier hitter than the Hobgoblin, that strength adds a great new deeper darker taste
