Dark clear brown pour with white head. Thick malty nose. What an odd mouth. Quite the mix of taste and flavours. It may be a bit much. I haven’t decided yet. Sweet caramel at first, then a touch of bitterness that’s replaced by a really earthy malt. This is then replaced by a bit of a boozy burn. The aftertaste is roasty and lingers a bit too long. I do like the way the booziness kind of burns away the confusing beginning of the mouth. It’s a unique sensation but one I find I like. I prefer this quite a bit over Hobgoblin and I’m saddened that this is seasonal.

Nice bottle for a seasonal beer. Full of lovely aromas like caramel, cereal and woods. Appealing ruby color, properly foamy, not excessively. Tasty and rich, thick without being hevy.

Bottle, 500ml. Pours clear, dark reddish-brown. Head is short, almost non-existing, light and slightly lasting. Aroma of sweet malt, yeast, bread, raisins, sweet dark fruits. Mouth feel is slightly creamy to oily, body is medium, carbonation is medium-soft. Taste is nicely sweet, not too much with some light balancing bitterness and lightly bitter finish. Flavor is biscuit, bready, sweet dark malt, butter at first. Then raisins, slightly wineouss, some complex tasting herbal hops, yeast and some umami. Then slightly bitter, grassy-herbal hops towards the finish. Very good with complex, interesting flavors and good balance and interplay of sweetness and bitterness. Nice gentle but flavorful hops, backed by a very bready-malty base that is not too sweet. Nice!

500ml bottle. Best before 31 Aug 14. Oops. Pours a clear ruby/caramel with a half finger, off white head that sticks to the glass nicely. Aroma has nicest notes of bread, caramel, and hints of fruity esters. Taste starts out with slightly sweet caramel and bread then moves into a bit of cola, vanilla, cinnamon, toasted bread, toffee, a touch of roasted malts and dark chocolate. Medium body and carbonation. Slightly thin with a bone dry finish. Overall not bad. Would like to see if a fresher bottle is any better.

500 mL bottle poured into a pint glass. Fairly dark reddish brown pour with a couple fingers of thick tan head. Caramel and fruit aroma. Taste is sweet and malty, again a bit of fruit in the sweetness. The end is balanced with some hops.

Bottle 0.5l. Clear reddish-copper with medium creamy beige head. Fruity aroma (cherry, banana), biscuity, malty notes, a bit yeasty. Sweet milky flavor, fruity, light hoppy bitter finish, semi-dry. Creamy texture, light carbonation, medium body. Very nice.

Smells sweet and caramel like. Pours brownish, can still see through it. Richly full bodied to go along with the sweetness, enough hop not to be cloying, fairly satisfying beer.

Sweet toffee apple scent with hoppy notes alongside a dark ruby colour with small white head and audible carbonation. A warming taste of toffee, hops and a pleasant sticky finish that’s smooth on the palate.

Bottle. Lightly hazy amber pour with a small soapy white head. Almost a candy apple aroma - fruity and sweet. Flavour is malty, fruity, with white grape, apple, sultana raisins. A little thin and low bitterness, but not bad flavour.
