King Goblin 500mL, unfortunately out of the bottle. Skunk, straw, English hops. Sweet with a bitter alcoholy finish. Medium bodied, silky and creamy. On occasion, I love me a nice hobgoblin, but this just doesn't seem to be worth the effort and elevated price. Solid, but not spectacular.

500ml brown bottle. Amber colour and clear. Good looking creamy beige foam on top with good lacing. Nose has toffee malts, a little fruit. Taste has caramel and toffee malts with fruity notes. Bitter finish with toffee. Smooth mouthfeel. Pleasant.

500ml bottle pours a deep amber color with a finger and a half of off-white head that leaves some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark pitted fruits with some light chocolate and caramel. Taste is a dark fruity and caramel malty sweetness with a grassy hop bitterness. Full bodied with mild carbonation. A beer that sits heavy in the belly and is not as satisfying as it should be. I like the Hobgoblin better.

50cl bottle from Aldi - pours dark amber with slightly off white head - aroma: malt and grass/citrus. Taste: fruitcake, malty-sweetness, and a decent alcohol kick. Pretty good

Clear chestnut brown color with small brownish foam. Aroma of malt, and bit fruity, but on the weak side. Taste bitterish and has this nice sweet hop flavour also has some nut notes to it. Also tastes bit on the strong side. Over all very nice beer.

I go to this a lot, as it’s generally dirt cheap and delivers plenty for the price. It’s inconsistent, but usually it kicks off with a huge hit of eggy sulphur. As with Hobgoblin, you get a bit of citrus and raisin, but with a lot of diacetyl, veg and some kind of soy/umami thing. At one stage it starts to taste a bit like a liquid version of an old hardback book you found in an attic. Also, Stilton and gum balls. I actually really like it, that’s the thing.

Bottle - sweet malty aroma. Still looking clear and thin, Darkish red with minimal head. Slight ting on tongue continues in mouth. Full strong tasting but overall lacking any pleasant characteristics - not the best.
