People say english ales are supposed to be ’fruity’. This is possibly the fruitiest ale I’ve ever had. To think that the rich plum, fig and marmalade notes arise only from fermentation and malt, is very impressive. Would love to try this rich, malty bitter on cask.

Gut!

passed on this many a time. wasn’t a great beer, but better than most I’ve had of theirs. a little better body and more life to it. lightly sweet and bitter. I do see where the last reviewr says "the wrong kind of bitterness" but I thought it ok.

i don’t like this beer. it has too much of the wrong bitterness, there’s too much sugar, all sorts of flavors battling it out. Not for me. The artwork is very kitschy.

Bottle - deep mahogany with a thick light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, oak, a little dark fruit and caramel. Taste of oak, earth, pine and chocolate with some biscuit. Medium to heavy body with low carbonation.

Ruddy amber/ ruby brew with, a nose full of cocoa powder/ choc/ touch of toffee. Taste similarly toffee/ caramel/ choc, with a little hopping and a quick dry finish. Like a dubbel but less chewy and roasty than that. An altogether drier, slightly thicker, more ’one-note’ but refined version of Hobgoblin.

ASPETTO: marrone con riflessi granata, limpido. Schiuma beige, abbondante e abbastanza persistente.

Brewed only on a Full Moon, a vintage version of an all time great. I literally found this a slightly better, stronger crack of the whip. It’s biggest difference from the non kingly version, this addition has a powerful Aroma, it hits the nose from across the room, and pack’s a Toasty, Roasted Cocoa, oddly Banana toffee like Aroma, though a little overpowering in that it melts your nasal passages. It pours a deep darkest of dark ruby glimmering Ale, a little hazy with a Liberal medium brown, frothy head. In the mouth it literally feels just like Hobgoblin, Stout like, Heavy and strong, of great fortitude. I find it’s taste simply a stronger more punchy version of regular Hob, Toasty, dominating chocolate, vanilla, and high Coffee profile. It’s Finish is much longer and provides a smooth, but warming bitter-sweet taste, an amazing Brew and a Bold step.

Bottle from asda. Pint glass. Much thicker feel that hobgoblin and indeed most of this breweries beers. Caramel, citrus, spruce. Deep red amber beer. Very good.

From a pint bottle shared at Ryan’s. Pours a clear copper with an ecru head. Light malty nose. Flavors of caramel. Decent.

Very good head. Color between amber and copper. Clear. Hops, esters, raspberry and caramel in aroma. Medium bitterness, sweet. Light carbonation, medium body, frothy texture.
