Imperial Red, Imperious deep ruby ale. Do not fear the Imperial Red who comes in peace to liberate your taste buds with his robust yet succulent beer. Bottle 500ml. Pours a 2-finger off-tan coloured head that disappears quickly. Lots of carbonation in this very red ale. Aroma is cherry and malt, very short-lived. Taste is of biscuit and bready malt with a light bitterness. A pretty bland ale. Nothing special.

Medium amber color, bubbly head. Soft, simple nose, some caramel and earthy hops. Not much going on.Malty flavor, some caramel, earth minerals, Rather bland altogether. Not bad, but boring.

500ml bottle: BBD 30 Jun 15, poured into my Abbot Ale glass tankard on 14 Sep 14. Nice looking brew, chestnut red, clear and clean, deep creamy textured off-white head. Malty molasses fill the nose, the lightly roasted maltiness has toffee and caramel notes. Those malty flavours mentioned in the aroma come through loud and clear in the taste too. My sweet tooth liked this beer a lot. Body could have been richer and deeper, but the beer was not weak or watery, just not as heavy as the maltiness initially suggested.

Bottle 0.5l. Clear golden-amber with quickly diminishing off-white head. Heavy fruity aroma, peach, rose wine, some banana notes, melon. Sweetish fruity flavor, citrus, a bit hoppy, melon, peach. Medium carbonation. Light body. Very clear taste.

Bottle from local Yamaya. Sourish fruit caramel, berries, and rusty metallic aroma. Reddish/copper color. Caramel, sugar, and decent hops to balance, lightly bitter finish. British, for sure, but with modest US aspirations. Imperial, in what sense?

ComradeK (1041) - The Vale of Dundas, AUSTRALIA - SEP 8, 2014
500ml bottle. Pours a clear deep ruby, with a large off-white head, which lasts fairly well, and leaves a little lacing. The aroma is quite malt-dominated, with buttered toast and toffee notes, a little banana, but very little hops presence. Mild fruit and spice hops up front give way to buttered toast and nutty malt in the mid-palate. Sweet spice and a touch of banana make up the finish. A decent enough bitter, but it could do with more hops aromatics.

Bottle. Tawny appearance with a medium body. Slightly roasted and surprisingly nice considering its origins. Well worth trying.
