3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask handpull at The Pheasant, Ashford. Black with brown edges, lasting cream head. Some nice choc, on an ok aroma. Light in mouth, more a roasted dark mild than a stout. Quite roast on the finish.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask conditioned handpump Racehorse Northampton. A black stout with a good off-white bubbly head. Some slightly roasty malt notes in the aroma together with a dash of vegetation. Roasty in the mouth and in spite of it needing more depth, thereís an unexpected dash of citrus at the end. Hmmm.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Hand pulled at the White Swan, Oldbury. Smooth fluffy head and mouthfeel. Pleasant enough gentle stout flavour up to a point; then gets a little plasticky on the finish. Burnt kitchen worksurface. Usual Wychwood harsh undertone. Subsequent sips lead me to believe that there isnít that much flava.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A Mes rate. Cask at Baker Street Hobgoblin.
Almost black mahogany coloured with a thin beige head. Slight eggy sulphurous but a decent dark malt base keeps it on track. Plenty of liquorice, lots of burnt malt and a decent bitterness in the finish. Better than their usual rubbish but no show stopper.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Flat, Dark Brown no head. Really thin for a stout, virtually tasteless apart from a little background bitterness, tinny, what on earth is this about?
