COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
’Butty Bach’ is Welsh for ’little friend’. This full-bodied, smooth and satisfying premium ale is burnished gold in colour, and certainly has made a few friends in its time.
We brew it using Maris Otter and Crystal malts, flaked barley, malted wheat, and locally grown Fuggles, Goldings and Bramling Cross hops. With such fine ingredients, no wonder it remains a firm favourite among our followers.

Cask at The Ostrich Inn, Forest of Dean. Well pour, hazed caramel with abstract off-white foamy head. Hit of fruit on nose, sweet tart fruity-cider body. Really hits the spot. Impressive and very drinkable.

cask at The Anchor at Tintern Abbey. Pale golden pour with a tight head. The nose is lovely. Lots of fresh Goldings and a soft leafiness. Soft crackery malt. Fresh and assertive bitterness. Really a lovely bitter. The faintest minerally/sulphury flavour. Very lively tasting. Lingering tobacco flavour on the back of the palate.

BC courtesy of The Tesco Man. Strong brassy gold pour with bright carbonation and a tight, unshrinking white foam. Surprising aroma with decent, pils-like elements and more than a hint of spruce and marmalade. Slick mouthfeel; good herbal and evergreen notes, slight earth and yeast, marmalade dabs and a balancing malt creaminess. Surprising that I’ve never rated this...and even better, it’s pretty good.

Clear gold beer. Crisp palate. Well balanced beer - light clean malt and just a little hop bitterness. Stops just the right side of beiung watery. Refreshing and quite satisfying.

Bottle from RealAle.com. Pours light amber with a creamy white head. Fruity, almost apple/pear aroma. Flavor is light caramel with some spicy fruit. Mildly spicy. It’s pretty tasty. Finishes both malty and bitter. And fruity.

Dark orange and unclear. Has an off-white head, medium duration. Faint hoppy aroma. Flavor starts moderate sweet, then the classic hoppyness turns in. Moderate bitter finish. Creamy texture.
