2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle consumed at home 11.07.13 picked up last w/e from The Hop Pocket, Bishops Frome. Pours chestnut brown clear as you like with a slim white rim of tight bubbles. Well it seems like Wye Valley have taken a step backwards with this beer and gone a bit too twiggy and ultra traditional. The locally grown Cascade hops make no effort to exert their hoppy presence. This is a malty, rather drab and boring ESB the sort of territory where the likes of Marston excel. I hope that Wye Valley are able to put these hops to better use in future because frankly they were rather wasted here. A6 A4 T5 P3 Ov11 2.9
