3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 BlackHaddock (2356) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - OCT 29, 2012
Bottle conditioned 500ml: poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard on 16 Oct 2012 @ home. The bottle had a best before date of 20 Jan 2013.
Dull reddy brown body with a full head of white bubbles on top.
The nose was semi-sweet malty molasses with a mini-hint of spicy hops arriving as the beer warmed in the glass.
The taste was also malty with a hop bitterness coming late on each sip. Woody, nutty and malty, loads to find in the flavours to be honest: a very complex and enjoyable brew.
The alcohol level sat well within the body strength and couldn’t be detected: always a good sign in my eyes.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Skinnyviking (5956) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - OCT 4, 2012
Bottle. High creamy and long lasting off-white head. Slightly clouded brown body. Lovely barley malt aroma with a dusty light peppery note plus a bit of caramel. Mild and smooth in spite of the relatively high alcohol percentage. Rather sweet though with a herbal spicy flavor and a nice shot of caramel. Fair amount of hops bitterness. Low carbonation, long dry finish. Actually I find that this beer is rather complex and hard to describe.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 FROTHINGSLOSH (3977) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 20, 2012
UPDATED: MAR 24, 2012 Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle this beer poured a caramel-brown color with a huge creamy tan head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet toasted caramel, light cherry, molasses and yeast. The flavor was bitter with notes of toffee, caramel, raisin, cherry, bread, nut and was a bit earthy. The finish was long with nut, caramel, raisin, cherry and bread. Medium body. Ok.
