COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mainly available bottle conditioned. Occasionally available on cask.
The fields of barley ripening in the sunshine; the hops climbing up the bines in late summer... It was sights like these that inspired Dorothy to create her Country Ale.
Made with all-natural ingredients, it’s a must for any discerning drinker who savours the summer and cares about the countryside.
This strong, full-bodied ruby ale can be enjoyed on its own or as a partner to red meat dishes, cheeses and even rich steamed puddings.

Bottle, labeled as "Our Glass", shared with blankboy and Hogtown Harry, courtesy of Harry. Musty tea, cinnamon, herbal, rootbeer and malt aroma. Dark brown/orange, very still and flat looking. Very sweet musty malt taste. Tea like. A little thin. A grower, it became a little more like a weak Scotch Ale. Some bitterness and alcohol, but not a ton. Ok, didn’t like it as much as my drinking companions.

Clear rubyish brown with basically no head, just a few sudsy soap bubbles (big ones). An extremely roasty, burnt ale, with lots of bitterness up front. Like chewing on a charred log that's been sitting in the embers of a fire. Overdone and massively disappointing. I would not drink this again.

A very good ale, that reminds me slightly of 1845, but a little bit spicier. Pours a dark amber color with a faslty fading head, that has some nice clingy lacing. A bitter and dry finish. Very easy to drink.

500ml bottle. Pours dark amber with a small head. Aroma sweet and caramel malt. Hint of apple. Sweet start. Spicy caramel malt finish. Cloying aftertaste. Bit thin for the 6%.

Bottle wife brought back from Wi. Has a spicey, fruity aroma. Red body when held to light and vitually no head to speak of. Flavor has a stong barley presence along with fruit and spice bitter. Left on palate is a laquer paste of spice and bitter. Filling beer and a warms the body.

Burnt amber color with a thick whipped meringue of a head. Inviting fruity aroma with apricot and mango, mixed with a nice floral and spicy hop that hints at thyme. Nice caramel and fruit front, with a bite of husky astringency, some mild floral hops and a balanced finish. Medium body with a soft carbonation. Pretty nice but for the astringency.

Pint bottle pours pale brown with a short offwhite head that stays well. Aromas of slight caramel and brown sugar. Flavor is caramel, slight brown sugar, and slight bitterness at the finish. Palate is smooth and easy to drink. Pretty decent for a session brew and easy to drink. Somewhat dry at the finish.

Cask at GBBF 2010, 4th Aug 2010. Mid brown, flat. Cheap chocolate (think Hersheys) and toffee on the nose. Similar flavour. Dull and flat. Blurgh.

A mild tasting strong ale - I didn't realize it was 6%. Clear brown body poured with little head. Licorice, spices, fruits, malt - a whole lot of flavors put together in a mellow package of malt. Hops are warm and lightly peppered. Palate is very smooth and full - almost flat tasting, but the carbonation is there around the edges. Very good.
