COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mainly available bottle conditioned. Occasionally available on cask.
The fields of barley ripening in the sunshine; the hops climbing up the bines in late summer... It was sights like these that inspired Dorothy to create her Country Ale.
Made with all-natural ingredients, it’s a must for any discerning drinker who savours the summer and cares about the countryside.
This strong, full-bodied ruby ale can be enjoyed on its own or as a partner to red meat dishes, cheeses and even rich steamed puddings.

Slightly hazy amber colored beer, small slightly off-white head. Don’t smell much. Taste malts, slight coffee, slight hops and fruits. Low carbonation, low to medium body.

Pours a nice dark brown with no head. Flavor is hoppy and tangy and is not well balanced. The maltiness in the aroma does not come through in the flavor. Low carbonation. I did have to give extra points for the great label.

Bottled. Deep amber colour, slight burgundy hue. Nice lacy white that clung to the glass to the finish. Big malty aroma, sweet malty taste with good bitter depth and structure. Sharp on the palate and refreshing for such a strong ale.

Translucent or clearish amber wiht a thin white head, medium bubbles. The nose has some hints of bitter and alcohol and wheat hops whatever in the nose. THe taste is strong bitter right off. Later bitter as well. It just hangs out in there. Not that bad but just a tad bitter.

Bottle, labeled as "Our Glass", shared with blankboy and Hogtown Harry, courtesy of Harry. Musty tea, cinnamon, herbal, rootbeer and malt aroma. Dark brown/orange, very still and flat looking. Very sweet musty malt taste. Tea like. A little thin. A grower, it became a little more like a weak Scotch Ale. Some bitterness and alcohol, but not a ton. Ok, didn’t like it as much as my drinking companions.

Bottle from Super Saver. Hazy deep coppery/ruby pour, with small white head. The aroma is caramel malty, with a fruity and hoppy element. The flavor is caramel malty, with a firm hop bite and some finishing fruit. Well balanced and imminently quaffable.

Bottle from Monument Wine. Pours amber with a decent beige head and a toffee aroma. There is a tasty caramel malt base with subtle hop bitterness. This would be a lovely session beer.

Bottle (500ml). Shared with blankboy and tupalev - my bottle. Poured cloudy mahogany with a small off-white head. Sweet candyish malt aroma, some mild hops - a nice funky woodiness emerges as it warms. This is very malty, mildly spicy and funky - there’s a hin of bottle-metal there too; reminds me of a light belgian ale crossed with a scotch ale. Mouthfeel is syupry, fairly flat, with a solid body (no pun on the picture) and fair alcohol presence. I liked it - started sweet, had a longish finish with a fair amount of alcoholic bitterness left on the tongue.
