COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
Thumbing through her grandfather’s books, Dorothy came upon a recipe for a wonderful stout with intense roasted barley flavours and a dry, bitter finish.
Together with her friend Jimmy, our head brewer, she created this dark, full-bodied number. It boasts roasted coffee notes and plenty of hop flavour.

PapaVillum (381) - Valby, DENMARK - JUN 25, 2014
500 ml, flaske, 4,6 % ABV, julegave fra Robert - tak! 25. juni 2014.

Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Black with a bubbly tan head. Roasty aroma, a bit vegetal, with some coffee. Sweetish roasty flavor with some coffee, a bit of dark chocolate, nutty notes, a faint smoky hint and a drier bitter finish,. Medium-bodied,.

Bottle from Booth’s, Ripon. Very dark ruby, lmost black, with a tan coloured head. Good roasty flavours with coffee and toast. Quite light and easy to drink, although I prefer a bit of a fuller body. Very decent though.

Black/Brownish black. Weak coffey, fresh, malty. Dry fresh bitter finish. Miss a hint more sweetness and body in this. Another good beer from the Brits.

Looks great, nice cream head, virtually black. Typical roasty aroma and on first taste, a pretty spot-on stout. Sadly though, the mouthfeel is all wrong, totally lacking in body and being just way too thin. Disappointing.

BlackHaddock (3479) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - OCT 14, 2013
500ml Bottle: BBD 17 Nov 2013, poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard on 14 Oct 2013, well in date! Bottled conditioned so, poured carefully. Looked great, tanned head on top of a dark, dark brown with ruby edged body. Chocolate and mild coffee notes in the aroma and taste. Nothing over stated, this chugs along nicely, a little hop bitterness mingles with the coffee and chocolate flavours to give a balanced, if slightly more malty feel to the whole of the beer. I’d have preferred a little less ’fizz’ in the body feel, but many would argue against that. Overall a fine beer by a brewery that blows ’hot and cold’ for me.
