COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned. AKA Hereford Pale Ale.
HPA is a truly delightful pale ale. It’s smooth on the palate, and boasts a citrus hop aroma leading to a balanced bitter finish.
Locally grown Target and Styrian Goldings hops play an important part in making this such a distinctive beer. With Maris Otter pale malt and malted wheat also being used, this is very much a pale ale with all the right ingredients.

50cl bottle from Marks & Spencers, Camberley. A pale straw coloured pour with no head; musty citrus aroma; some life in the mouth with a lemony citrus taste and a grainy body; and a light grassy bitterness to finish. A rather uninspiring pale ale.

Straw color. Yeasty aroma with bright hops. Very dry and bitter. Bright hoppy flavor. Hoppy finish. Good, not great.

Very, very pale. Any paler and it would be water. Not a huge aroma and the initial flavour is a sourness which mellows into gentle dry malt. Not over-blessed with flavour or finish but this is nonetheless a pleasant and refreshing beer with no real vices.

Draught. Pale straw colour with one-finger white head. Green fruit and associated acidity dominate the aroma. Moderate but short-lived bitterness provide good drinkability. Solid example of a light refreshing summer british ale.

Cask at the Black Horse, Bridgnorth. Light gold with a full and proud white head. Sulphurous aroma with a suggestion of lemon and grain. Taste is self routs, bittersweet with that eggy aftertaste. Refreshing enough but it doesn’t taste particularly good. Far too Burton-y.

Towey1989 (1820) - Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - JUL 28, 2015
Cask at The Holy Inadequate, Etruria. A clear golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma of biscuity malts, honey, subtle vanilla, some apple, slight lemon and spicy hops. Taste is quite sweet of honey, light lemon, biscuity malts, some apple and spicy, herbal hops. Light bodied and a soft carbonation. A crisp, herbal hop bitterness in the finish. An enjoyable pint, though average overall.
