3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle bought from the brewery market stall in Newcastle. Hmmm, this is lovely. A good malt mix which is both fruity and toffeeish. The cold-filtering is gentle and hasn’t harmed the beer in the way that pasteurizing does. The force-carbonisation is acceptable. This is 5% abv, which gives the beer a full body. A decent brew.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUL 7, 2008 Wylam is a local beer down my end, and bare with me for a brief review but it’s a while since I’ve had one.
As far as blonde light ales go this is a very good example. Nice mouth feel, good sweet/bitter balance and very refreshing. Better on tap than bottled.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This was a surprise find in Vicky Wines in Hawick, it was listed as a "local" ale, I suppose the brewery isn’t THAT far away...about 50 miles give or take a few! Anyhow, it’s deep copper in colour, the white head was quite soapy in appearance and vanished in less than a minute. The palate was packed with lots of malty(crystal?)malt flavours and a satisfying, although not overpowering bitter edge. This is crackin’ stuff. Seek it out if you can, ask your local VW if they can get it in.
