A bodacious, sticky, double red with luscious caramel and malt notes and deep layers of hops.

On tap at brewpub. Listed as a "double red". Caramel and toffee flavors with mild citrus hop flavors. Good level of bitterness, mouth puckering. Enjoyable.

On tap @ Wynkoop. Copper pour with a white head. Citric hops, passion fruit, and pineapple. Really crazy fruit aromas. Nice toffee notes, too. Flavor is tart tropical fruit. Passion fruit, pineapple, and mango. Some grapefruit, sweet caramel, and toffee. Very nice.

Can. Deep Amber. Nice nose of caramel and pine and citrus hops. Full bodied and flavor follows nose with sweet then bitter clean finish. Solid...a notch below G’night though.

Draught at Wynkoop, October 2012, GABF week. A very god amber ale. Sweet with fresh hops, so full of hop flavor I am thinking this might be a wet hopped beer. Some brown sugar and sweet malt for balance. Full-flavored. A good beer.

On tap at Wynkoop. Pour is deep amber with a frothy cream head and great lacing. Big sweet fruits, grapefruit, orange, pineapple, caramel, grapefruit, light bread, and a touch of toffee in the aroma. Taste is citrus, orange peel, biscuit, light grass, weed, candied fruits, caramel, and grapefruit with a medium bitter finish. Sticky mouthfeel with high carbonation. Damn decent red ale.

Can. Dark orangish amber in color, pours smooth with a nice white, slight cream head. Nice lacing, sticks to the glass. A lot of hop to the aroma, caramel, maybe even a sliver of pine and grapefruit hints. Malt character, some citrus notes to the palate, maybe a hint of grassiness, smooth and a bit of a bitter end. This is a beautiful red, I like it.

3/3/14. With Michelle. Single can. Lake Dillon, CO. Very nice aroma and color. Solid malt profile, but I think it could benefit from a little more hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Wynkoop. Clear amber with a thin white head, very hoppy aroma of fresh pine and grapefruit with a huge caramel backbone. Taste is the same; lots of grapefruit and pine hoppiness with a lot of semi-boozy caramel sweetness and a dry earthy toffee finish. Not shabby, but there’s just a tad too much bitterness.

12 oz can. Pours ruby amber with a medium pillowy off-white head that retains well and laces the glass some.

The aroma is a little subdued - sweet malts, piney resiny hops and some alcohol.

The flavor is sweet caramel and toffee malts and some fruit with a big grassy resiny (almost tarry) bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a decent imperial red. I like G’Knight and some of Lagunitas’ offerings better.

Draught @ Wynkoop. Pours a deep ruby read, with an off-white head. Hoppy, fruity aroma, light roast, spruce, resin, apricot, grapefruit, caramel. Semi-sweet, full bodied, high bitterness, balanced CO2. Hoppy, spicy taste, spruce, caramel, apricot, light chocolate, quite resiny and harsh. Powerful, yet a little off balance. (2013-10-07)
