COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Elitch Gardens Orchard Wheat is a 4.8% ABV unfiltered American-style wheat made with pale malt, malted wheat, German Saphir hops, kaffir lime leaf and a small dose of natural peach flavor. It’s a complex, ultra-refreshing wheat beer with hints of citrus and fruit in a perfect-for-summer beer.

On tap at Colorado Brewers Fest in June. Appearance: finger of white head, straw yellow color, cloudy. Aroma: wheat, peach, floral, earthy yeast. Palate: light body, thin texture, lively carbonation. Taste: wheat sweetness that lasts, decent peach sweetness in the middle. Overall, very good for style, refreshing, but just not for me (not the biggest on peach beers). Easy to drink.

On tap at the brewery. Orange cloudy appearance with a small, frothy white head. Aroma of fresh peaches, wheat malts, toasty grains and light citrus fruit. Similar flavor, mild sweetness. Light bodied and easy to drink.

December 22nd, 2012 - Wynkoop’s Orchard, associated and partially named after the great Elitch Garden’s, is like the park itself. On the outside it is sweet and sparkling, redolent with soda and sugar. And the flavor is festive, sprinkling light cherry notes and lime on the tongue with an effervescence that again reminds me of a light carbonated drink. Not Sprite nor Coke, but Hansen’s or Jones. But also like Elitch’s, there’s less substance and flavor than their could be. I say this with respect to the park because I fondly remember with vague memories distorted by childhood the old Elitch Gardens, which felt more like a cousin of Disneyland than a corporate branch of the Six Flags brand. And I make this critique with respect to the beer because fruit flavors can go deeper, and so could the wheat base. But as it is, this could be a good hot weather beer. In the middle of December? A bit flimsy and thin.

On tp at Wynkoop poured a cloudy gold with a small lasting off white head. Aromas of wheat, yeast and orange zest. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of wheat, yeast and orange zest with a smooth lingering orange zest finish.

Draught at Wynkoop, October 2012, GABF week. Hazy gold color and almost no carbonation. Some apple aroma and a little apple flavor with flavor of a sweet American style wheat beer and surprisingly lots of apricot.

Aroma - peach, wheat malt; Appearance - light golden, opaque, fluffy head, laces very well; Taste - mild wheat front, peach flavor is noticeable though not overpowering, subtle back, finish has a slight citrus tang; Palate - faint crispness, average body for the style; Overall - wonderfully drinkable and quite refreshing on a hot summer day.

Pour on tap at the Denver Summer Brew Fest, clear yellow pour with white head, aroma brought notes of white fruits, slight grass, hints of pepper, slight clove, yeast notes as well. Taste is pretty nice, slight yeast and clove notes, touch of white pepper, banana, slight white fruit, finishing fairly sweet.

Opaque apricot hue with a small thin (but persistent) head. Very apricot/peach aroma, like sniffing fruit puree. Flavor was a little more beer-y with a light sweet cereal malt tone, but is very overridden by peaches and apricots, with a beer finish...not quite sure how else to describe that. The finish just ends like a beer, with some alcohol and a light effervescent bitterness.
