Tap at brewery. Pours a deep cherry red. Aroma is cranberry and raspberry. Flavor is a deep raspberry with a slightly cherry finish. Palate is watery but coating. Great beer.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Ernest (5116) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 6, 2005
Draught, Wynkoop, Denver.
Head is pink, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark purple-red.
Aroma is trace malt (toasted grain), with a note of raspberry.
Flavor is heavily sweet, moderately acidic.
Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic.
Medium to full body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation.
Simple and sweet, just the way a lot of people like fruit beers (think New Glarus Raspberry Tart).
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Rastacouere (5900) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 4, 2005
I’m pretty sure I saw the ABV at 8.2% on the menu. Muddy, pinkish hue crowned by a diminishing head. Heavily grainy nose, bready, soapy and loaded with raspberry potion. The wood undertones once again hint at oxidation while tea-like tannins fight off the biting carbonation. Vinous, tart and simplistic fruit beer.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 JMerritt (1568) - Macomb, Illinois, USA - OCT 3, 2005
On tap at Wynkoop when in town for GABF 2005. Dark red, very hazy with a thin, pink head. Aroma is very light, some cherries and raspberries. Wow, is this stuff violently carbonated - FAR too carbonated to enjoy. Underneath all of those bubbles is a light raspberry tartness and some heavy sweetness. Needs less carbonation, more brett.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Ungstrup (22906) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 2, 2005
An unclear red beer with a small disappearing red head. The aroma is dominated by cherries. The flavor is sweet with loads of cherries - though artificial. The end is dry - but where is the sourness???
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 egajdzis (4550) - Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 3, 2004
Poured a brownish red color with a light pink head. Aroma of tart cherry and brett. Weak cherry taste with a touch of tartness. Way too much carbonation. I believe I will hit another brewpub next time in Denver.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 dirtymike (2016) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - FEB 29, 2004
Red like a smoothie just out of the blender,no head.Is this a beer or a cocktail? Slightly tart with a touch of raspberries.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Volgon (2698) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - OCT 19, 2003
On tap at the brewpub, 2003: This looks like a chalky red fruitshake. Tart berry aroma, medium bodied, ends slightly sweet. Interesting and not really a good example of the style.
