Sweet/floral; well balance aroma. Pale gold with light white head. Starts off sweet and a bit fruity, but not overly so. The malt hops maintain their balance throughout. Probably Wynkoops most solid beer I’ve tried

Wynkoop’s Beers of the Year 2012. Clear golden with a generous creamy/fluffy white head. Big smokey/biscuity aroma with some sort of off-fruitiness like pear or citrus. Smooth flavor with strong cracker malty biscuit yeast, boozy lager esters and pale grains.

draft at Denver Bicycle Cafe. clear amber with a coarse-bubbled off-white head. strong hop character betrays it’s Maibock name, but this is America, fuckers, and we hop the shit out of everything because fuck you, that’s why. honey-drizzled toast and coarse grains with assertive hop acid, it’s much more of a pale ale / IPA-type than anything like maibock, but if lagering cleans it up vs. top-fermenting (which I tend to believe happens here in Colorado more than elsewhere), I’ll take it. medium body with light crispness and snap. creamy and round carbonation. lightly sweet honey and pine / citrus hop cone finish.

On tap at Wynkoop Brewery in Denver, CO. This poured a pale golden color with a hint of red. Its lively carbonation is a bit of a false note, but otherwise its a fairly faithful interpretation of the style, with enough sweet malt to make you pucker. The hopping is a tad clumsy, with too much American brightness showing through in the finish, but overall this is a decent beer.

On tap at the brewpub. This was described at the brewpub as a Maibock. Pours orange with a big white head. It’s not very impressive. Has a big heat but very little else. No malty caramels to speak of.
