COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A meaty foreign-style stout, Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout is made with Colorado base malts, roasted barley, seven specialty malts, Styrian Goldings hops, and 25 pounds of freshly sliced and roasted bull testicles. Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout is an assertive, viscous stout with a rich brown/black color, a luscious mouthfeel and deep flavors of chocolate, espresso and nuts. The beer sports a savory, umami-like note and a roasty dry finish. Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout is 7.5% ABV and 3 BPBs. (That’s balls per barrel.)

Poured from a growler. Black with a light brown head. Light aromas of chocolate, molasses, and roastiness. Sweet taste to start with milk chocolate, slight coffee, finishes with light bitterness. Feel is very smooth and a bit juicy, not much carbonation. Overall a good stout, sweet and smooth.

12oz can via trade. Poured a flat bodied pitch black, medium density, small bubbly head that was only achieved with a super ballsy pour to agitate the hell out of this beer. Aroma of dirty feet, newspapaer, cardboard box, touch of darker chocolate, nuts and some coffee. Body is medium, dry finish, lighter carbonation and an average duration on the aftertaste. Flavor is eartrhy, nutty, dry chocolate, dark chcolate and a touch of cardboard again.

Really good stout. Didn’t taste any balls. Nice rich French roast nose. Thick vicious mouthfeel. Some vanilla bean in flavor. Thick tan head. Very good stout.

Pour out of 12 oz can, dark black pour with slightly tan head, aroma brought roasted malts, some coffee into nice caramel, sweet chocolate, some slight sweet vanilla as well into a bit of spice. Taste is bull ball-y, chocolate, coffee, roasted malt into a bit of vanilla, some slight spice, finishing fairly roasted. Just kidding, I really don’t get much from the rocky mountain oysters besides perhaps a bit of body?

Luscious, luxurious-looking liquid. Thick and creamy, the midnight-black ink in the glass is topped with a quarter-inch of mahogany foam. Salted caramel, milk chocolate, toasted bread, more than a little dark fruit, figgy. A hint of smoke. Something savory deep in the background, like a good steak, umami. Nice smokiness. A bit of coffee, sweet cream, cocoa powder, earthy hop bite, ethanol, pork chops, finish of raisins, coffee beans, cocoa and booze. Vanilla bean. Again, a subtle savory note. Heavy cream in the mouth. Thick body like melted chocolate, rich, more than mild bitterness. Tiny bubbles pepper the tongue; alcohol burns it. This would be a superb stout even without its ballsy adjunct.

GABF 2014. Black color with a medium head. Light sour aroma. Very earthy taste with some roasty chocolate notes. I dare say I would still say a beefy flavor if I tasted this blind. Here’s a way to end GABF...
