This beer was brewed in honor of Matt Venzke, our 2008 Beerdrinker of the Year! It was mashed with significant percentages of dark wheat malt, beechwood smoked malt, and our brewer’s 2-row malt barley being boiled with German Noble hops and fermented with our award-winning Bavarian Weiss ale yeast. When poured with generous white off-white head , the aroma of this beer is reminiscent of our Wixa Weiss with hints of banana and clove combined with a moderate smoky character. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy leaving a slight citric finish. Very drinkable at less than 5% ABV.

On tap during the 2009 Beerdrinker of the Year competition. Pours an opaque brown with a slight white head. Big wheat (hefe) aroma, light body, slight banana character matched with a mild roasted character. Full mouthfeel. Interesting non-traditional flavor combination but it works! Nice job Andy and Matt.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2011 Draft at the brewpub ... how cool is it to have a beer named in your honor!? Muddy brown with a subtle smokiness in the nose. Drinks like a very nice easy-drinking wheat with just a twinkle of a nice Bamberger smokiness. Well done. (#3520, 2/21/2009)
