Clear light dark brown colour with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, caramel, spicy, christmas spices. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, christmas spices, dark malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20120117]

Orange, thin head. Aroma nutty, woody, and a pleasant gingeriness. Taste matches - very nutty and gingery. Potent and morish.

Cask conditioned - handpump - A light amber coloured beer with a whitish head. The aroma has berry fruits which also follow through into the taste. Some malts and a little warmth in the mouth. Pretty good.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. The pumpclip has a picture of a man urinating into snow. How amusing. Gold. Sweet buttery aroma. Taste is buttery malt, well rounded, with a mid bitter finish. Straightforward beer.

A Mes rate: Cask at the Wenlock. Dark golden brown with a thin bubbly white head. Creamy malt aroma with plenty caramel and maybe a very slight hint of diacetyl. Very fruity flavour, with sweet caramel malt and again a hint of diacetyl but for once it is almost complimentary. So so.
