500 ml. Bottle. Pours a thick, well retained, light beige head, with some lacing, over a dark brown (SRM 35) body......nose is light coffee, chocolate, hints of smoke.....taste is light chocolate, mild coffee, hints of smoke, finishing with a moderate smoke hop bitter tone.....mouth feel medium, carbonation adds acid tingle. This is obviously a Stout. The smoke was done with a light hand with the result that it falls within the Robust Stout category. This is nicely balanced, but not particularly complex. BJCP 7/3/14/4/7

Black with a medium, creamy tan head. Aroma and taste of roasted malt, some smoke, chocolate and coffee. Also some ash in a nice full body. Tasty.

Bottled. Pours pitch black with a medium sized tan head. Leaving a good lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and dark fruit notes. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft CO2. A delicious stout.★★★★

Bottle labelled as #44 @Linköping Beer Expo 2013. Aroma sweet, lots of sweet dark malts, chocolate with smoked notes. Taste is sweet, chocolatey with some bitter malt notes. Bitterness fairly high.

Dark brown coloured body with a very prominent ruby and violet glow near the bottom, with a thin, half centimetre tall light-brown head. Aroma of smoked peat, nuts, earth, raisins, alcohol, a bit of coffee and some milk sugars as well. Medium-bodied; Strong roasted malt and peat flavours with a bit of soy sauce and a little earth, but a very thin finish and a bitterness that is pungent. Aftertaste has a bit of an oaky, earthy finish of malt and peat, but the sugars don’t exist and the complexity isn’t much more than a cup of starbucks (read overroasted) coffee. Overall, not such a great beer and perhaps missing a stride along the way in the flavour profile and finish - this one didn’t have the legs. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 28-May-2012 for US$9.95 sampled at home in Washington on 12-February-2013, the day of the State of the Union Address for the first address of the second term of President Obama’s presidency.

Bottle @ home. Black body with a large light brown head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, smoke, sweet. Flavor is caramel, chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, smoke, sweet.
