NOTE! In the US this beer is marketed as Xbeeriment #44. The reason for this is that any references to President Obama would only be permitted by US authorities if we had a written permission from the White House. So the dressing’s changed, but the beer stays the same!

Also please NOTE that the first US edition of "Xbeeriment #44" is erroneously labelled 10.4% ABV.

English: Brewed to celebrate Barack Obama’s inaugural as the 44th President of the United States, and the first black person to hold the office. A potent stout with a fair amount of peated malt in the grain bill. This adds a smoky character to the beer which obviously also has roasted aromas from the dark malts and roasted barley as well as loads of citrusy hop notes from the US hop varieties. NOTE: From 2009 - 2012 this beer was brewed at Amager Bryghus. From the summer of 2012 it will be brewed at Herslev Bryghus.

Bottle: Dark, near opaque with a dense & well retained khaki head. Nice rich chocolaty aroma- thick black malt, light sweet peat notes, smooth roast. Creamy slick body- richly malt flavor- good chocolate character while remaining dry with an earthy light smoky note when it warms and a nice bittering hop character making it very drinkable in its richness. Residual mocha-like presence briefly hits the back. Very nice stout!

Bottle. High cereamy and lasting light brown head. Very dark red brown almost black body. Roasted barley malt aroma with nuts coffee and cocoa. A bit sharp and hoppy roasted malt aroma with caramel coffee and cococo. I am afraid that the alcohol is too dominant as the beer feels pretty agressive. High carbonation, long aftertaste.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours completely opaque black with a dense and creamy light brown head. Aroma of burned malt with some vanilla. Medium body, somewhat raw burned malts with an ashy edge, lightly sweet vanilla and a fairly malt bitter finish. 200409

Bottle from Kris, thanks man. There are some light hop notes in this, but this is mostly defined by a bitterish black malt and lightly fruity flavor. Somewhat eggy aroma. Mild dryness and chalky with a defining light coffee kind of flavor. Good but not great. I can’t sense the peat/smoke at all.
