COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
NOTE! In the US this beer is marketed as Xbeeriment #44. The reason for this is that any references to President Obama would only be permitted by US authorities if we had a written permission from the White House. So the dressing’s changed, but the beer stays the same!

Also please NOTE that the first US edition of "Xbeeriment #44" is erroneously labelled 10.4% ABV.

English: Brewed to celebrate Barack Obama’s inaugural as the 44th President of the United States, and the first black person to hold the office. A potent stout with a fair amount of peated malt in the grain bill. This adds a smoky character to the beer which obviously also has roasted aromas from the dark malts and roasted barley as well as loads of citrusy hop notes from the US hop varieties. NOTE: From 2009 - 2012 this beer was brewed at Amager Bryghus. From the summer of 2012 it will be brewed at Herslev Bryghus.

Smak och doft av choklad, ,malt, vanilj, fat, läder, laktris, torkad frukt med toner av en lätt rökighet. Rund och len, välbalanserad, fruktig. Beska med smak av bitter mörkchoklad.

Sample at SBWF 2013. Sweet and malty smell with whisky, oak and vanilla. Similar taste. Not very smoky, more sweet woody vanilla. Very nice.

My Bottom Line :
This wealthy Smoked Stout develops molasses, dark chocolate and peat smoke atop juicy fruitiness and resinous hops in a beautifully cohesive whole.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A sheet of foam tops the darkness.
-Mineral angles appear here and there.
-The nose doesn’t share as many intricacies as the flavor profile.
-The peat smoke is well surrounded by chocolate malt flavors and residual sugars.

Bottle.

@basunen: ganska lätt doft av ener. Fin fyllig smak av lakrits och choklad. Något mjölkig eftersmak men ganska trevlig öl. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle from IPB. Labeled Smoked Stout
Appearance : Black with medium foamy brown head.
Aroma : Acidic cold coffee with roasted malts. Light smoke with light piny hops.
Taste : Acidic coffee with roasted malts. Piny hops. Fairly astringent. Finish is acidic with piny hops. More astringency.
Overall : Nice roasted malt, nice smoke with too acidic. Maybe a bit too much coffee also. Feels a bit too much like a cold coffee. Fairly warm also. A bit hard to drink. Not really my thing.

The aroma has chocolate, coffee and some sweeter toffee notes. it pours a dark black color with full head. The taste has some light to medium sweetness and then some good bitterness as it opens up on your palate with some full rich chocolate flavors, some nice roasted coffee and light smokey peat. The body is full and creamy. Overall this is awesome, I like that the peat isn’t overpowering but still integral to the flavor.
