Very dark brown colour. Flavour is on the whole far too sour. Body is really thin and watery.

On tap at Apex, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma of light smoke and medium roasted malt – not too smoky. Flavour of lightly ashy smoke, roasted malt and some dry cocoa. Full-bodied, with a tasteful amount of smoke. Very solid stuff.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. Pours black-brown with a fine, white foam head. Tangy dark malt nose. More tangy dark malts in the flavor, some dusty cocoa. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Dry finish, light roast, mild tang. Seems old, not in top condition. Would be kind of weak to bring an out-of-shape beer to the fest. But this beer was just OK.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A - Pours a dark brown-black with a finger of frothy khaki-chocolate colored head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of roasted dark chocolate malts, dark fruits, smoke, vanilla, molasses, black licorice, and a hint of booze.
T - Starts off with a mix of dark chocolate malts with some raisin and other dark fruits and some black licorice. Through the middle, some vanilla and smoke comes through with some molasses. The finish is a mix of dark chocolate, smoke, vanilla, dark fruits, molasses, and a touch of booze.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth and a touch creamy with a sweet and smokey finish.
D - Very drinkable. Nice balanced smoked stout with a nice blend of smoke flavor and base stout.

Pours dark brown, black in glass, 1 cm tanned head. Smells of yeast, roasted malts, peat and hints of diacetyl. Taste is massive roasty malts, medium sweet. Then a wall of tar and smoke takes over. Wow. The taste is better than the aroma promise for sure. Also some liquorice in the back. Nice aggressive finish, quite bitter, medium. Full body, average carbonation, oily texture. Totally this is a bit hit and miss for me. The taste is awsome but the smell is not so good. Some more balance here and the beer will rise

Opaque black beer. Dry dry palate!! Rich malt, quite well toasted. Some bitter hops then comes through. Some creamy malt and a trace of dark fruits in the finish. The combination of over dryness, hard roasted malt and hops that impart nothing but bitterness are about as welcome as a kick in the goolies! 2.3.
