2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
(Draught) Pours black with a nougat coloured head. The aroma holds rubber, chocolate, glue and caramel. Some green hops in the background. The flavour is medium sweet, medium to heavily bitter and light acidic with notes of tar, coffee, dark chocolate and green hops (citrus and resin). The mouthfeel is light astringent (tea-like) with a light carbonation. Acidic and bitter finish. Medium bodied. Too green.

Black with no head. Some understated roast aroma. Above average mouthfeel, smoke, but a moldy finish that just doesn’t do it for me. Could only drink so much of this.

Pours deep black with slight mahogany towards edges. Tan head with good retention recedes leaving spiders lacing. Mild chocolate aromas. Thick with dark chocolate and dark roasted espresso. Dry lasting charcoal and resin finish.

Expected 10.4% and got 7.7%. As such we were tasting this up against much stronger beers so the flavors may have been a bit muted in comparison. Lightly smokey and malty. Everything seemed a bit watery. Very drinkable but lacked complexity.

Ok so my bootle says 10.4 abv. Not 7.7 abv. WTF? Oh well, great sweet malty aroma. Lightly smoky. Thin body is where this is crappy.

Aroma of anis, peat, coffee and chocolate. Pours black with a medium foam. Tastes nice and roasty. Roasted malt, some dark nuts, and a slight mocha finish. Nice and dark.

very dark pour with a large biege head. For those who like smoked porters, this is a bridge into stouts... If you want one.

Hail to the chief. A beauty in the glass, dark brown with a slight red tint and a small tan head. The aroma is like a smoky piece of bread. The flavor also has the smoky bread along with a bitter bite that gets more intense as the beer warms. Crisp and clean finish with a very nice lingering after taste.

Bought on CueTour 2011! Pours a dark black opaque color with great big brown head and lovely lacing. Fruity nose with caramel, roasted malts and cocoa. Good roasted malt flavor with some smoke. Sweeter than I would have thought, but very nice....with some coffee notes near the end.
